Tbh Wacky Workbench Bad Future JP actually fits the level. Wacky Workbench as a stage might be slow, but it’s chaotic and difficult to pass. Bad Future is even MORE chaotic and even harder to pass, and that’s why it sounds the way it does. In fact, the voice lines say “Screw this place” as if the factory is beyond saving.

It works perfectly for a bad future theme. Chaotic, in disarray, telling you to run with some panic feels. Its perfect for giving the bad future OST its name. Meanwhile the us is bad in my opinion and i mean as it bad bad. Not bad as it fits with the theme. It sounds like they're at a disco party despite the place in the worst condition. The sirens in the JP version fits the warning part and i love it.

I think about it, and I just realise more and more and more that some of the badniks in the bad futures are worn down. They have scratches and scars and look like they’re on the verge of breaking down. It’s almost like once Eggman gains control of the place he just… abandons it, and leaves it to rot. Metallic Madness bad future and Wacky Workbench bad future are horribly rusted away and wacky workbench in the JP soundtrack sounds like it’s about to go up in a horrible explosive inferno, but the workers aren’t allowed to evacuate. It’s all so worn away, damaged and just… forgotten, for the next big thing Robotnik has in mind. Okay I didn’t know that you brought up the whole decayed factory thing in your look at us wacky workbench.

I've always interpreted Metallic Madness Bad Future US as a cry for revenge and determination on Sonic's part. While Little Planet may be doomed Sonic can still hand Eggman's behind to him and stop him from spreading his influence beyond the forsaken planet.

Imo, I believe the JP version of Tidal Tempest does fit the level. You go listen to the other time periods from this zone and then you come to the bad future and you're met with this somehow harsh, technological feeling music, to represent that Robotnik has taken over this calm, peaceful area with all of his machinery and destroyed it, but actually I do agree with you on preferring the US version. Sounds a bit more ...creepy/atmospheric, especially with the vocals.

For me, Quartz Quadrant BF US version sounds like it’s describing QQ itself: an empty, desolate, worn-down, hellish wasteland that’s beyond saving. The JP version sounds like it’s describing sonic’s thoughts: “screw this place, I better go get eggman!” I like both versions, though I do have a bit of a soft spot for the metal in the US version, I do believe both are great and tell a lot about QQ BF.

Palm tree Panic JP is my favorite bad future soundtrack . It just fits a bad future so well. It has distorted sounds from the happy music in the past and sounds like the stage is mocking you for not saving this place. It just feels like something terribly wrong happened here.

I have always been that JP soundtrack purist, which is because I grew up with the 2011 port with it on default, which might explain why I have been JP only because of the emotional connection I have with the music, with that game being one of the first games I ever played.

#14: Palmtree Panic US: I think most of us are on the same boat here. This song has little to no energy, doesn't go anywhere, is so weak, and it doesn't even help that this is supposed to be the bad future of Palmtree 'PANIC' I put panic on caps for a reason!! I don't even know how HyperSonic likes this song so much. But then again, it's his opinion and I can't disrespect it, I know. At least the tribal chanting is good... #13: Tidal Tempest JP: This song is creepy (and not in a good way) and also this is a water level, therefore the pace has to be slow both for the level and the song... This song is so fast, completely breaching the requirements of an underwater level. At least it least it reminds me of Bad Guy (by Billie Eilish.) #12: Quartz Quadrant JP: honestly idek why I don't like this song. The piano riff, the drums going in sets of 2 and the buildup are all cool. But that's about it. #11: Collision Chaos JP: if the present had a 'bad' variant, this song would fit like Sonic's size 9 shoes. It doesn't sound creepy enough. And yeah I guess collision chaos hasn't changed all that much in terms of background, but still the guitar is the only thing keeping this song afloat. #10: Stardust Speedway JP: Aw hell nah 💀💀, before I get viciously attacked, plz let me explain. The song isn't creepy at all, and its US counterpart absolutely bodies it. It's kinda overrated ngl. Welp I better take that statement back now 💀💀 I mean I guess I'll give it its moment in the spotlight then. #9: Quartz Quadrant US: literally everything is good about this good except for its length, At just 55 seconds, I feel like this song could have been higher, had there been more to it. #8: Metallic Madness JP: Sonic 1 Halloween edition introduced me to this song and I really liked it. This song really brings down the ego and self-esteem of the player, mocking them of their failure of not saving Little Planet. And also those final voice samples slips past way too many people, like Sega bro chill 💀💀 #7: Metallic Madness US: This song hypes me up more the Japanese version and feels more intense. It's like you have another chance at saving little planet. You have to be careful and nimble though. The door isn't closed yet. But you can do it! One. More. Chance. #6: Collision Chaos: unlike the present and good future, I actually don't mind the guitars bellowing throughout the song because it's the bad future after all. They actually serve a purpose now. Towards the end of the song, the callback to the present is great! It makes you want to go back so badly. I definitely like it a lot more than I originally did! #5: Palmtree Panic JP: Believe or not, this song actually used to be my favourite song in the entire game, but it has sadly kinda fallen off now. I still love it, just not as much... The beginning with the boo, the callback to the present, the taunts of the souls of those you failed to is are all mind-boggling when you think about it. The ending is also amazing with the piano riffs straight out of the good future. Definitely an insult to injury! #4: Wacky Workbench JP: Wacky Workbench is kind of a fast paced stage so the music needs to fit accordingly. While I do think the composers kind of went overboard with this song, I can't blame them at all! I love this song! It's very dark and menacing. Take 2:19 for instance. Overall an awesome song! #3: Wacky Workbench US: don't ask me why, but the guitar (no not the electric one doing the solo) really reminds me of despicable me of all places. I think it is probably because I heard a song there that at least sounds remotely close to this. I can't remember which one off the top of my head. But anyways, the instruments themselves definitely are decaying and the solo is also quite epic! #2: Tidal Tempest US: Tidal Tempest is a slow-paced level. As you may have guessed, the music needs to correlate. Thos song does just that! I also love how the women in the song are gasping for air. A morbid detail that ups my love for this masterpiece. #1: Stardust Speedway US: when I was introduced to this gem of a song, my jaw just dropped, I couldn't believe my ears, I am a huge fan of rock music (specifically hard rock) so you could have only imagined how happy I felt to hear this for the first time. I literally couldn't get this song off of my head but I didn't complain at all! Seriously this is like the most effort I have seen someone out into a Sonic CD song. The heavy drums, the badass guitar, the layered vocals, basically every individual component of this song is just music to my ears 😍😍 I actually love this song so, so much! And with that I hoped you enjoyed wasting your time reading this! 😂 but as always, fantastic video! Great video! Here’s my list. 14. Tidal Tempest JP (This doesn’t work because this is a water level. In a different level this would be fine, but it’s pretty bad here.) 13. Palmtree Panic US (Even though this is the worst one, it still works a little. I like the vocals, but it’s bland. It just doesn’t capture the energy of “You ruined this place.”) 12. Quartz Quadrant JP (All of the Japanese Quartz Quadrant soundtracks sound like they’re supposed to be for the outside sections and none of them fit the inside sections. This one is no exception.) 11. Metallic Madness JP (I wish instead of using vocals to convey the dire situation, they could make it actually feel like “Dead or alive, Sonic is mine.”) 10. Palmtree Panic JP (This has the opposite issue that the US one has, which is that it sounds too energetic instead of too calm. This would make epic boss music. But it just doesn’t work here.) 9. Wacky Workbench JP (This is kinda catchy, and it fits the environment well. It sounds like you’ve opened the shed and all the power tools are suddenly attacking.) 8. Collision Chaos JP (I don’t have any strong opinions about this song. It builds off of Collision Chaos Present JP nicely and is one of the only songs in the JP soundtrack with not horrible vocals.) 7. Collision Chaos US (I really liked what you said about it giving off a “What now?” vibe. It builds off of Collision Chaos Present US nicely and I like how the main melody fades out towards the end, leaving just the darker instrumentals. It’s awesome.) 6. Stardust Speedway JP (I like the rhythm of the “hey hey”, the way it’s arranged sounds unnatural and robotic. I just wish it didn’t feel like this song goes nowhere.) 5. Wacky Workbench US (I like how you can’t really tell this is the Bad Future until you’ve listened to the Good Future, and I like how they managed to keep it feeling sort of upbeat but also kind of sad. It still fits the theme and I like that.” 4. Quartz Quadrant US (Oh my goodness, this is so good. Even though the track itself is extremely short, it still manages to feel really creepy and ruined while still fitting the area. I don’t really think it fits the outdoor sections very well though.) 3. Stardust Speedway US (The perfect race music. My only complaint is that I don’t like the “stardust” part.) 2. Tidal Tempest US (This is so creepy, yet it works insanely well. The sound is so creepy and it fits both in and out of the water. It sounds like someone is drowning at some point in the song.) 1. My two favorite are Palmtree Panic Jp and Stardust Speedway US. SS Bad Future is my favorite on the entire US Soundtrack too. It is so epic and such an intense struggle. As for Palmtree Panic, it is the only track that really puts the Panic in it.

For me: 14. Palmtree Panic JPN - 5.75/10 (E Tier) This was my first Sonic CD level theme, and I really don't like this one much anymore. It genuinely sounds disappointing to me. It's very jarring, and not a great fit for Palmtree Panic with the out of place rave music with the weird vocals and a terrible horn. The only part of this song I really like is the unused loop, and maybe the bassline. Asides from that, this is my least favorite Bad Future in the official and complete Sonic CD Soundtrack. 13. Stardust Speedway JPN - 6.25/10 (D Tier) I never really got why people like this track or Metal Sonic so much. Stardust Speedway is a stage I like, but I wouldn't say that it should be the only reference to a Sonic CD stage in later games. As a Metal Sonic theme, it's not that great. As a Bad Future, it's really not that imposing, and as a race theme, it's decent. Unlike Palmtree Panic Bad Future JPN, I actually like the melody for this track a bit, but even then, this song is just really weird and is not what Stardust Speedway should be known for. 12. Collision Chaos US - 7.60/10 (C Tier) Just like Palmtree Panic Bad Future JPN, it's a mess of a song, but at least it had it's moments with the callback to the Present Theme, and I do like the guitar at some parts. It's a good fit for the Bad Future itself, but not the stage. It really only fits the mood, and puts the "chaos" in "Collision Chaos". 11. Wacky Workbench US - 7.70/10 (C Tier) This was an early favorite of mine just like Palmtree Panic Bad Future JPN, but has drastically fallen off. This used to be my 2nd favorite song of all time, but has aged poorly. It has a great melody, but the execution of it just doesn't cut it well. There are some fan remixes that do this track better like the deleted MIDI remix JeuxBandicoot527. The track itself is a good fit for Wacky Workbench Bad Future as it's really haunting and depressing. 10. Quartz Quadrant JPN - 8.40/10 (B Tier) This song used to be my overall favorite Quartz Quadrant track, but has fallen down a bit, but not as much as some of the early favorites like Palmtree Panic Bad Future JPN and Wacky Workbench Bad Future US as I still like this track enough to put it in the B Tier. I love the first half of the track a lot, but the main issue is the second half which is either a hit or a miss. This track is already a great fit for the Bad Future, but it's issue is the second half. 9. Tidal Tempest US - 8.50/10 (B Tier) This track, just like Quartz Quadrant Bad Future JPN, was an early favorite of mine that's dropped off, but not as drastically as others because I still like this track. It's really dark, and fits the level well. It's only issue is that I don't really listen to this one much or even think of it often. Fun Fact, this track used to be my favorite US Bad Future. 8. Metallic Madness US - 8.80/10 (B Tier) This is quite a great track for the final level. I like the melody itself, especially the desperate part of it that plays 26 seconds in. The only issue this track has is that it's kinda messy sometimes, which is why it's in the B Tier. 7. Stardust Speedway US - 9.00/10 (A Tier) The only time the US Soundtrack wins in Stardust Speedway. This track has both the Stardust, and the Speedway. It's a great fit for the level. I really don't care for the race or Metal Sonic, but if I were to rate it as such, it's a good fit for the race, and a good fit for Metal Sonic (especially the Sonic Forces remix and the Sonic 4 Metal Sonic theme). As a track itself, I like the bassline a lot, and that guitar is AMAZING in headphones. 6. Quartz Quadrant US - 9.25/10 (A Tier) This is a really great fit for Quartz Quadrant Bad Future. It's gloomy, futuristic, and it's really catchy. After seeing how this has similarities with the Present Theme, I'm thinking of keeping it in the A Tier. This track used to hold the title of being my most favorite US Bad Future, but one track has taken over it. 5. Metallic Madness JPN - 9.30/10 (A Tier) This track can be a bit of a swing in my opinion. Sometimes I find it great, and sometimes I find it goofy. The same can be said for the US version which is sometimes a very epic piece, but it sometimes messy to me. This is why Metallic Madness Bad Future has for most of the part, been a very close round. As of now, I lean towards the JPN OST by a decisive 0.50 points because I like the vocals, and how good of a fit it is for the final Bad Future and Metallic Madness itself. 4. Tidal Tempest JPN - 9.40/10 (A Tier) This track is forgotten by many, but I still like this one a lot. It's a good fit for Tidal Tempest Bad Future, and it's a good melody. I really like the industrial appeal of this track alongside how catchy it is with that bassline. I also love the unused loop of the track quite a lot. 3. Palmtree Panic US - 9.60/10 (S Tier) My favorite Bad Future in the American Soundtrack. Palmtree Panic in the American Soundtrack is all around great to me, and it ages better for me over time. This track has steadily remained as a favorite of mine, and is now what I would call one of the best songs of all time. It's an ideal fit for Palmtree Panic, and the Bad Future. I like the melody a lot, and I like the vocals a lot. The album version is even better with the futuristic parts of it, and that flute. 2. Collision Chaos JPN - 9.70/10 (S Tier) What a FANTASTIC track! It's a great fit for the Bad Future, and a great fit for Collision Chaos. I often think of the dark clouds in the sky when I hear that unused loop. Also, this track is one of the few instances where the JPN OST uses a guitar, and it's a fantastic guitar! This track is more evil than people say in my opinion. 1. Wacky Workbench JPN - 9.75/10 (S Tier) My favorite Bad Future in Sonic CD. I love the catchy fast-paced melody with the industrial sounds in it. It's a great fit for the Bad Future of Wacky Workbench. I even went on to remix this track for Sonic's 30th Anniversary last year. The only issue with Wacky Workbench Bad Future is that the factory never explodes if a time over occurs in the stage on the JPN version, which is a huge missed opportunity, and for the factory to break from crumbling apart on the US version. And speaking of the US version, this track took the title of my favorite Bad Future from the US version, which formerly held it.

TBH I'd say Palmtree Panic US is supposed to be like this, kinda conveys the atmosphere of a carribean polluted wasteland just like the level itself. I really like Tidal Tempest JP, gives me the vibes of the water is right now getting poisoned and everything starts dying, and you have to escape before you die aswell. Wacky Workbench JP is by far the worst track in the game, I even prefer the US game over looped over this lol. I also get cool Cyberpunk esque digital dystopia vibes from Collision Chaos JP, like living in a city that looks glamourous from the outside but an absolute shithole on the inside.

Stardust Speedway JP - D teir (6.05) No just No this song is annoying and is basically the worst bad future theme in the game because It doesn't suit the race, it doesn't suit the level at all, while I dont hate this track it doesn't deserve all that fame and respect it has rn plus it doesn't suit the level or Stardust Speedway at all in fact it suits a dance battle if anything 13. Collision Chaos US - A teir (9.42) this is gonna be my biggest hot take because some people dont like collision chaos US but I do and I love this song and how much it fits its suprisingly does most things right like fit the level, fit the timeline and its an amazing song! 4. Palmtree Painc JP - S teir (9.55) this is without a doubt the best bad future JP song because it suits the level perfectly well it even mocks you with the innocent lives of children and MY GOD THAT LAST PART WAS AMAZING!!! 3. Metallic Madness US - S teir (9.59) this is what you call a good song for a final level! This song is a banger song and is one of the best songs ive ever heard even! Along with the fact that its amazing for suiting the level and it has some hope left 2. Wacky Workbench US - S teir (9.62) WOW! Im suprised they did this well on making a great song and making it sound like a bad future also the vocals are amazing its almost a perfect fit! 1. Stardust Speedway US - S teir (9.80) THIS is a perfect fit! It perfectly suits the aspect of the level this song not only perfectly suits a bad future but also (unpopular opinion) suits the race and also at the same time suits Stardust Speedway, one of the best songs in the game personally (also I love the vocals saying "STARDUUUSTTT!!!"

I have returned with, this time, my sub! And my detailed analysis, thoughts and ranking of these tracks in my humble opinion. 14) Palmtree Panic US - it is fitting yes and it does leave me thinking "My God: such a travesty to witness this once tropical paradise become a mechanized wasteland" but yes, boring and forgettable song 13) Tidal Tempest JP - This is a weird case: it doesn't suit the level and the instrumentation I find jarring but, it's catchy in a twisted, inexplicable way. 12) Wacky Workbench US - Another issue of a good song but just not fitting the stage. Props to the shout-out of Hawaii but it's just a good one. 11) Stardust Speedway JP - Ok this is a good song and paints the picture of: "Oh s**t I must get a move on but, I also want to dance!" Just a funny contradiction. 10) Quartz Quadrant JP - oddly satisfying even if the song doesn't suit the level: I get the feeling of: "I need to escape this industrial cesspit right NOW" decent song but out of place. 9) Wacky Workbench JP - "Argh s**t I got to get outta here before this place implodes!" Is the impression this song leaves on me: it being fast-paced might be a little off but it's a good song. 8) Collision Chaos JP - Pretty funky song: not very fitting of the stage but you can't deny that it is catchy. 7) Quartz Quadrant US - "What is this perversion of technology and megalomania I am bearing witness to?" Is what I imagine I would ask myself if I woke up to be there. Good song but, it's short. Wish it had more to it. 6) Collision Chaos US - "what the hell is this place? Something Seems really... Off..." That's the impression this song leaves on me for this one. Power chords enhance the song for creating that intense, dark, bleak vibe. 5) Metallic Madness JP - Alright can we just get it out of the way: this song is CREEPY. As if Robotnik's laughter in victory and that voice mocking you: "I have failed Little Planet... My mission was a forlorn hope..." Perfect monologue for this one. 4) Palmtree Panic JP - "The voices of the ghosts of this wasteland taunt me relentlessly: I have failed them; how can I live with this shame?" Just a fantastic song and very fitting. References to the present theme add insult to injury. 3) Tidal Tempest US - Such a fitting track for a run-down, desolate wasteland of a water plant flooded with polluted substances. I imagine "I don't want to meet my end in this reddish-purple toxic water as punishment for not saving this place..." 2) Stardust Speedway US - very tough call to make between this and my number 1 but simply put: amazing song. Fits the stage perfect and the Metal Sonic race over a vast dystopian city. 1) Metallic Madness US - "I may have failed Little Planet but: I hope not to die in this god-forsaken fortress..." Paints the picture of the high-stakes of saving Little Planet's future only for Robotnik to win. Just a fantastic song overall and really sets the mood and atmosphere of the stage. So that is it from me! Number 2 & 1 definitely can change depending on my mood on a given day :)

It's hilarious how different lists can be, and even opinions on the same tracks are the exact opposite. Here's mine: 14. Palmtree Panic US (no surprises) - The album version is actually great, with many instruments absent from the in-game version and a great buildup. Unfortunately, this rank isn't about that one. 13. Quartz Quadrant JP - It's fast, sure, and the vocals sound like "Whoa, forget this place!" even though they aren't, but it takes an absolutely brilliant track and, in my opinion, makes it really monotonous. 12. Tidal Tempest JP - Probably the worst track-to-stage fit in the game. At least it sounds evil and kinda fits a Bad Future. 11. Collision Chaos US - Many consider this the best of the Collision Chaos US tracks, I honestly prefer the Good Future. It sounds really bleak, but I just don't like it. 10. Collision Chaos JP - This one, on the other hand, is a much better track but it doesn't fit a Bad Future at all. 9. Wacky Workbench US - This track also doesn't sound evil enough, even though it reflects the disrepair well enough. That is enough to put it above number 10. 8. Palmtree Panic JP - Probably the lowest ranking for this track, it's brilliant in its perversion of the Present track, but I just feel a natural environment should have something more bleak. Unfortunately, the US version outright sucks. 7. Stardust Speedway JP - Memes aside, it also isn't really evil enough to fit a Bad Future. It can switch places with Palmtree Panic if it makes someone happier, they're pretty much tied for me. 6. Quartz Quadrant US - It's really bleak and also sounds evil, the only problem is Tidal Tempest does the same thing better. 5. Metallic Madness US - Both it and the Japanese version are brilliant, but I want the despair to be absolute for the final act, when you've already lost. 4. Metallic Madness JP - Robotnik's rap is enough to put this one ever slightly higher for me. 3. Tidal Tempest US - The definitive atmosphere for an underwater cesspool like this stage has become. 2. Wacky Workbench JP - By far the most evil track of them all, both it and the US version fit in their own ways, it screams "Bad Future" the most. 1. Stardust Speedway US - Simply the best US track, objectively.

Imma review these: (Ranking based off this guy's ranking) 14. Palmtree Panic US (Yeah, pretty mediocre. Definitely gives more of the atmosphere you'd want, but you are sacrificing so much catchiness. The JP version is my favorite track in both OSTs too, so yeah, they dropped the ball and it went through the hardwood.) 13. Wacky Workbench JP (Great! Fits the stage almost perfectly with how creepy it is, fitting the worn-down asthetic, and isn't long enough to get repetitive.) 12. Tidal Tempest JP (Definitely very funky and groovy and definitely fits how robotic the place has become, but not the most fitting for an underwater level. Still great though) 11. Collision Chaos JP (Not the best out of all of them, but still pretty good! I personally think it fits a Bad Future pretty well: it sounds like a husk of the Present music.) 10. Quartz Quadrant US (Fits Present music more than Bad Future music imo. But I still think it's very catchy and fun to listen to.) 9. Stardust Speedway JP (Very catchy. It's extremely fun to listen to and so amazing. And it's atmospheric. It perfectly fits the fight against Metal Sonic, especially in the Good Future. Collision Chaos US (Really catchy and has extremely good instrumentation. Everything about this song makes you want to dance. Yet at the same time...this song fits the level so well. It basically tells you "Guess what, Sonic! You phucking failed! Phuck you!" 6. Quartz Quadrant JP (Banger. This is really catchy and is really fun to listen to. I also agree: it fits much better and is much more interesting 5. Tidal Tempest US (Very atmospheric, but not very catchy and I would never listen to it in my free time, which I personally think is very important in a Sonic song.) 4. Palmtree Panic JP (Best song in the entire song. Counting the US soundtrack. There's not much more to say. It's a 10/10 in every way.) 3. Metallic Madness US (This is not even incredibly catchy, but there's also a really scary atmosphere around here. There's also a false sense of hope, which, as an interpretation that I'm stealing from a guy on the Sonic's Mixtapes video showing this track, shows desperation. Sonic is going "I-I-I-I'm-I'm sure-I'm yeah, I'll-Little Pla-planet-planet is saved! Yeah! Yeah, yeah...*cries*) 2. Wacky Workbench US (Doesn't fit at all, but it's a banger. That's all I have to say.) 1. Stardust Speedway US (Phucking. Banger. Pretty repetitive, but still really good, and honestly, better than the JP version.) tidal tempest bad future deserves better. your telling me it doesn't fit the stage??? that's like saying Santa clause isn't real while being dressed as Santa clause! it fits PERFECTLY and is one of my top bad futures. and it also shows that eggman really destroyed the place. with the purple water that looks polluted and the main theme of the song that sounds like a band singing their final tune! but then again it is your opinion after all.
