I'm new to 10th (played 2 very small games - and still learning how to play),I've always loved the GSC model range and that's why I chose them as my army. Now I have the hard task of playing them well, when they seem like an army ill-suited to newer players. This video and hopefully others on your channel will help me to be a good player (I hope).

Love this! I was looking for a channel that was for GSC what Skari's channel is for Drukhari. In depth guides and reviews of tactics and rules. Thanks for the content and please keep them coming! Subscribed I will be trying Host of Ascension, that strat for +5 crit is so so juicy, Although it being battle tactic scares me a little, that strat being vected would mess my plans hard also cause i dont see myself taking nexos from now on (the loss of the duplicate stratagem is too much to convince myself to even add one to the list) Which lone operative characters do you see us taking more than one of? I was thinking 3 kele

I definitely think the Kellermorph is gonna be a strong pick in terms of multiple but I would also recommend taking a look at the melee sanctus!

I think a lot of people misunderstand the Brood Brothers, it's not a GSC detachment, it's another detachment for Imperial Guard for the commanders that are a little bored of the index one 😁 I'm currently building up to 1000 points of GSC to run with my guard units.

Having played host of ascension in a 1500 game i think that detatchement has so much power in it still just in a different place from index, with you prepping the hot take for 4 and 5 i was expecting guard auxilla at 4

For sure, HoA I think is still a great detachment and now is just more balanced in allowing people to bring more melee to help GSC not be so mono phase.

Cool video - i´m about to finish my cult soon and i´m planning to field them in october at a local tournament - such videos are really important for a rather new 40k player like me in regards of what to build / paint next (currently i finished around 1000 points)... - i´m looking forward to see what content you will bring to give more competitive insight👍

I like the flavor of the guard cultists, so I'll play a lot of Brood brothers, but I would prefer the previous set up of up to 500 points in all detachments.

Well meant feedback: 1. Add timestamps please 2. Give a brief summary of the detachments 3. Start with the weakest detachment / unit 4. This was too long. Given that those are your first impressions before the release this could have been a ~6 minute video. On top of it you started a rambling speech at 22:50. Did you consider to invite another player? A discussion might be more graspable then a long monologue.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll work on adding timestamps but as we've all seen the detachments and their reveals have been out for a whole week I just didn't see the need to specifically fallout their rules but I'll note it for next time. As for the ending I mentioned that it was to meant to still talk about some of our more core synergies we have that can fit well in most detachments. I see how that might not fit as well in this format but I like making longer form content so that I can explain things more. I appreciate your support though and I look forward to improving the quality of future videos

I'm a Brood Bro, but I agree with you, lol. I think there are a couple match ups I could argue them to be better than a Biosantic list. Specifically tough melee guys, where you can't outpunch them, and the extra anti armor from brood bros crushes hard. Not saying they are the best there, just above broodsurge.

Totally fair, eventually given time we may need to update this list but this was just my overall first impression. The book has great internal balance and that just means all 5 detachments can have some serious play

Loved the video! Very helpful as someone who is just getting into GSC. I do have a question regarding the enhancement Denunciator of Tyrants and putting it on the neophytes. I recognize that it is the best (only) way xenocreed has to buff its shooting but I was curious what you thoughts were on putting it on a hybrid metamorphs unit lead by a iconward and stuffed in a truck? Looking at it, 9-10 hand flamers with full rerolls and +1 to wound seems really juicy on top of the then +1 to hit and wound in melee. It just seems more mobile/flexible to me than the neophyte squad and was curious if the strategy may hold water. Thanks in advanced, you earned a sub!

Totally it's a viable play, and I think that's one of the strong choices to put it on as metas really want to be our forward vanguard in the xenocreed detachment. Personally I just prefer GSC shooting so I always think of Neophytes first when thinking of damage potential.

Also as a sidenote (if your play group allows) use Tyranids or AdMech for brood bros. The rules are very generic and you can stick with your thematic army if they're tyranid/admech based.

I think hyper-metabolic vigor is the most broken strat in the book. I just have no idea how to break it. I feel like I want to use it to multi charge and prevent a heroic but then pile away from the scary unit and hit the one I wanted to charge. I just can’t see how to engineer a senecio where I am not required to base the heroic unit. Maybe some terrain play tricks? The other problem is the scariest heroic units are fight first and this does not help period for that.

I think a 6" pile in and consolidate is strong but there's certainly other stratagems that offer more utility or value with less restrictions

If abberents get down to 130 for 5, i think broodsurge is fine The plus one to wound is only partially for them, it's the abominent where it really matters imo

Im thinking Outlander is defo higher, with bikes holding people in place and RGs coming in on board edges with encircle etc and charging with tank shocking, lots of chip damage from bike bombs, tank shock with acolyte support. could be very interesting

I could definitely see Outlander outperforming HoA and XC, but I think that it's bad matchups are so heavily skewed against it that it's tough to rate it higher. It's a very strong but very polarized detachment imo

I’ve never played 40K, but I really like the theme of the genestealers. I was thinking of making a mad Max themed army. How difficult is it to get into genestealers as your first army?

Genestealers are a bit rough in terms of price to get into GSC but if you want a madmax detachment, a combination of the new combat patrols and battleforce boxes can give you the units you need. I'll be coming out with something soon that can help give a guide to saving money while getting into GSC.
