The 1st game I ever attended at the palace of auburn hills was on 4-7-95 it was grant hills rookie season and that Friday nite the magic came to OUR gym after beating the pistons in Orlando 2 nights prior. Penny was out with an injury Shaq went 0-12 from the free throw line and grant hill scored 29 points and was player of the game. The pistons won 104-94 that night and I've been a diehard pistons fan ever since. Great Memories!

Felt so bad for penny after Shaq left it was just downward spiral of events taken place on his body. I remember seeing him randomly on a teams bench and thinking dang penny still in the game !? He was alot of the 90s kids fav as well as Shaq. mJ was a cheat code lol nobody could play as him or be him on the court

Grew up in Chicago so of course was a Bulls fan but I actually liked the Magic, not losing to them, but I respected their game and talent and thought they'd be a force to be reckoned with down the road. Was shocked and disappointed they lost to the Rockets the year of Jordans comeback. No doubt they were a very talented young team and in my opinion a championship one down the road.

Even tho I am from Chicago & of Courses a Chi Bulls Fan I liked The Orlando MagicTeam Roster was solid Great breakdown of the players. being that I'm Older & seen for Myself I have debates/ conversations with younger NBA Fans I try to explain to them that some players in the 80's and 90's might not have gotten the publicity or Push to the masses from the League but those guys Had game but had to fill a role to fit in on teams. It even happens in this modern NBA. Great Video bro.

Before his injury, I think Penny was a better player than Kobe (at the same point of their careers.) Penny had much better on-court chemistry with Shaq, playing point guard, he was a match-up nightmare, underrated defender. BUT, he never had the "clutch/killer instinct "- Maybe if he had stayed healthy?

Haha, just the other day I posited in a FB basketball forum that I thought Horace Grant was a better overall player than Dwight Howard. Grant played in a tougher era (getting creamed by the physical Pistons and Knicks, etc, and overcoming; holding his own vs Barkley, James Worthy in the Finals), whereas D12, despite his amazing athletic ability, never developed beyond a mediocre low-post, back to the basket game; no jump hooks, jump shots, turnarounds, or free throws, and he was only the third leading scorer on the 2009 Magic team that lost in the Finals-- point being Howard, if he put in the extra effort (that Shaq was always getting on him about), he could have dominated the league when the big man/low post era was nearly over, but instead put up average (for a purported "Superstar") numbers against the likes of Kendrick Perkins (15ppg average in career head-to-heads). Contrast that with Horace Grant, who was a key role player on 3 championship Bulls teams and Finals contenders 1994-1996 Magic, while being the 6th best scorer for two Lakers championships with Shaq and Kobe. It was Horace Grant who was lifted up on his teammates' shoulders when the Magic beat the 95 Bulls in the playoffs. I'd pick him over Howard.

Horace Grant is the most underrated Power Forward of All-Time. The Bulls wouldn't have won without him, same with the Magic. If Horace didn't get injured in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Bulls, I don't think the Magic would have gotten swept. He had a knack for being at the right place at the right time, cleaning up a play with an offensive rebound and being that 'glue' that keeps a talented team together.

It was this team that got me into watching basketball. I didn't watch or play sports while growing up, I pretty much grew up in high school being a rebel who listened to underground alternative music and was into the arts and playing guitar rather than participating in any activity at all that had to do with sports. Then I moved to Orlando in 1995, right before Christmas. The person I was moving in with watched basketball and he turned on that Christmas game of the Magic vs Bulls on TV. I saw Shaq and I was like 'Wow, I didn't know that he played for Orlando, that's pretty cool'. Then there was an interview with Penny, and the interviewer mentioned that he was now being compared to greats like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. I was like 'Wow, that's pretty cool and he plays for the city I now live in'. I then learned about how much Orlando wins. Being from Jacksonville, FL- a real garbage dump of a city, I for once had something to be proud about my city. I was hooked, I became a hardcore Magic fan and watched them religiously ever since, even during rebuild seasons.
