I only own The Premonition so am glad to see it's one of their best. I played Mercenary Man to a non-metal friend of mine and he was like "Sounds like Bon Jovi." I wasn't angry... just disappointed and sent him to the corner to think about what he'd said.

Yet another great show with the double S's, these have definitely been a highlight of the year so far, Simon's facial expressions crease me up - and I completely agree with Steven and Pete about slip cases and digipacks. I only have Firewind's live Apotheosis CD which I pulled out after this having not listened to it in a while - but I think I'll now have to go and get some more back catalogue. I find I tend to go though phases of listening to one type of music then leaving off and focussing in on another type, however these powerymetal shows have routed me back to it.

The UK/US trio come through again with another great show about a band with which i have no familiarity. But the three of you always make me want to track down at least one of the albums for listening. Well done, chaps. And if anyone decides to do a SoT highlights show, it is a strong hope that Simon's smooth styling of Firewind is included as well as his reactions to Pete and Steven going off on a slipcover rant. Thanks for the fun and the information on another new band. Looking forward to the three of you on another episode as soon as that can be done.

Power metal has passed me by, but been trying bits from various bands and find a lot of it okay but enough to really grab me. Apart from Primal Fear and Helloween, though not sure I wouldn’t have listened to both those and enjoyed them without a power metal label. Listened to a few Firewind tracks mentioned now and will listen to the albums I get all the references made, by the guys Priest Scorpions, even the Magnum Graham Bonnet ones. Like Helloween and Primal Fear though I’m not sure what makes them Power metal, rather than good melodic traditional metal bands like Priest, early Maiden.. Tried Hammerfall, Stratovarius, Gamma Ray , Kamelot and Manowar, not for me really.

This is a great round of shows only heard 1,Immortals 2,Between Heaven and Hell 3,Firewind. Steven hasn't turned the gas on because like me he has seen the new Gas Tariffs. 😭😭😭 Gus was in Nightrage with Marios Illiopaulos who was in a band called Exhumation. If you are into Death Thrash and like Iron Maiden Exhumation Dance Across the Past is a brilliant album and one of my favourite albums. 👍

'Powerwind' is the title of a song by Twilight Force - a Swedish Power Metal band!. They are arguably even more 'Power-Metally' than any of these recently ranked bands - they describe themselves as "adventure metal" and dress as hooded elves while singing about dragons. 😂

1. Burning Earth 2. The Premonition 3. Between Heaven and Hell 4. Forged by Fire 5. Immortals 6. Firewind 7. Allegiance 8. Days of Defiance 9. Few Against Many Burning Earth has been my favourite Firewind album for a long time, for my money they haven't come close to having an album as good. The Premonition is fun and could be tied for #2 with their debut. I listen to the top 3 albums a lot more than the others, though albums 4 - 6 are still quite good. My bottom 3 are albums I essentially never listen to. Mostly forgettable albums, I listened to the bottom two recently while doing my drive to/from work and sadly they haven't improved with time for me. Oh well, still a good band and I just wish they had their original vocalist on more albums.

1. Between Heaven and Hell -Pure Metal every song is a banger, nothing they ever did after was close. 2. Burning Earth - A little more melodic than than BHAH but song's not as strong. 3. Forged By Fire - They kept the heavy but moved more commercial "Feast of the Savages" a way better song for me than "The Fire and the Fury" instrumental everyone talks about. 4. Firewind - Got back to their roots heavy and much better singer than Apollo. 5. Immortals - Solid back on track. 6. Allegiance - totally different sounding back than the 1st 3 albums but still had good tunes 7. Few Against Many - Better than the other 2... 8. Days of Defiance - almost tied with Few 9. The Premonition - I laughed when I heard some of these songs....put on Between Heaven and Hell for 20 seconds then put on " My Loneliness" ....
