I always run a grenade launcher and supply pack both on bugs and bot, and it works wonders, I always get a minimum of 200+ kills on missions. The grenade launcher is a severely underrated weapon especially for horde clearing, I call it the "fuck that general direction" gun. Bringing the supply pack with it ensures you always have ammo to rain down on your enemies, and by the time your pack is empty the supply pack stratagem is ready again.

In my limited experience, the laser Guard Dog seems to do a lot of friendly fire.

Yes. You have to play safe and position yourself in group so you won't fry your whole squad but it's really powerful with bugs

Because the rover has a "spool-up" time when it starts to fire, its programmed to continue firing when changing targets.

You can make sure to tell the dog to stay still on your back if you are too close to teammates and have it on attack when you have some distance

Personally I put the gundog almost in S for bots. In super helldive it's ability to effortlessly take out rocket striders and devs/berserkers and it's ability to clear small bots out so fast they never get the chance to call drops makes infiltrating large bases, jammers, bunkers and orbital cannons an absolute cakewalk

Gundog is almost perfect. I wish you could set it to not fire at things it can't damage, like Hulk or Tanks. It shreds a group of enemy easily if it has full ammo. The other 3 slots can be focused on the anti-tank strategems easily.

it's funny how the dakka dakka backpack went from almost completely useless to actually pretty good 👍changing the pen to medium and allowing us to reload from ammoboxes was very nice. I just wish it would shoot a little bit further out. Sometimes you have enemies right next to you and the targeting will not fire for some reason.

The rifle guard dog is great with the arc blitzer / thrower, it kills stuff that you don't outright kill with the arc, while it's stunned from the arc. Perfect combo. Pair with a 500kg or precision strike, and you can stunlock chargers with the arc thrower and land the bomb/strike right on top of the heavy enemies.

One thing to keep in mind when having the Shield vs bugs: it'll make your hitbox larger, therefore making it harder a bit to dodge the Chager's charge.

Honestly, I'd rank Ballistic Dog over Laser dog because while having limited ammo is certainly one downside, the ammo economy and max ammo count for it is large enough to where this is not really that big of an issue (at least in my experience) that is remedied very naturally as the diver calls in resupplies (with little to no downtime in between, again in my experience). Because lets break it down to its fundamentals, both dogs' purpose is to add additional fire support and assist in removing additional threats quickly. I strongly dislike L-Dog because people get in this mental trap of "Oh, the Ballistic runs out of ammo, but the Laser doesn't" and **THAT** specifically is the reason they pick L-Dog, when they're still consistently calling in resupplies and still consistently finding and picking up ammo packs around the map that would've kept B-dog up all day anyways. In terms of TTK B-dog blows the L-dog out of the water, no questions, that medium armor pen and great accuracy is critical to its TTK and you can feel it immediately when compared against the L-dog and this allows the B-dog to function effectively against both factions. In terms of accuracy, you can actively watch the L-dog miss for nearly 2 full seconds at 8:10 which in a horde shooter where you're getting flooded with enemies on the terminid side is an impressively bad mark against it. That and I notice very frequently the L-Dog friendly fires against teammates all the time, and it can even friendly fire against you, the person wielding the stupid thing. L-dog is imprecise, less effective, but it's infinite and that feels comfortable to some people. Whereas B-dog **IS** precise, **IS** effective, and just needs consistent replenishing, which is not a failure of it in my opinion.

You only need 1 ammo pickup to restore all of drone ammo, so ammo is really not a factor unless it is a drag-out fight that rarely happens. And it kills those bile spewer really fast

Im actually a big fan of the jump pack on bots coupled with the nade launcher. Getting to a good vantage point with the pack really lets the nade launcher shine during drops and you can just pepper all the gangs that drop down. Helps to get up close the gap quickly on those cannon turrets too, only takes three nade launcher shots to kill and the pack lets me have that high mobility playstyle

I cant tell you how many times I've played with randos who don't have a backpack and refuse/ignore my offer to give them a spare Supply Backpack when it's off cooldown. Even picking up an empty Supply Backpack is good because of democratic doubling from Supply Drops.

Standard guard dog did not sit around so much before Jet Brigade 2.0 released. I suspect there was some kind of tweaking done. When the first Brigade rolled through, the dog eliminated without hesitation. Maybe when it was given the ability to send out and recall? For Bugs this should be A tier

I actually prefer the bullet guard dog over the laser one in all situations. I find that the guard dog has plenty of ammo, using ammo roughly at the same rate as I do. As long as you're occasionally picking resupplies and ammo, it will last as long as you do. The bullet guard dog also does way less friendly fire than the laser variant, because it does not fire unless it's fully on target (whereas the laser swipes everyone at headshot height when switching targets). When the bullet guard dog shoots an enemy, it usually dies pretty much instantly. The laser variant takes some time to kill the target, especially for medium armored enemies. The laser guard dog may feel like it's doing more, but that's because the laser beam is always active even when it's missing the target (such as shooting the ground below the bug's feet).

I've said it before but I'll say it again. Jetpack + heavy armor + maybe the stamina booster = mobile tank with very few downsides. It absolutely changes the game and cuts down the drawbacks, best backpack

Sundog is arguably better than the rover now it just cleans up trash an doesn't set you on fire like the rover. I use it with the halt shotgun all the time along side the quasar

I don't agree with the laser rover though, my main issue is the teamkilling and the laser just shooting randomly in perfect headshot-height when it changes targets or when you change position. Too many times I've had to use stims or even go down due to "field laser eye surgery".

I think if it’s hurting teammates turn it off while close to them. I feel like there have been some stealth changes to this though too it the laser used to catch me on fire or at least hurt me more and it seems to be smaller now

For me, every dive I go with Jump Pack for bugs and Ballistic Shield for bots. Personally I feel like the rovers and shield generator are too much of a crutch and make things too easy. Plus nothing puts hair on your chest like charging a factory strider with heavy armor and a ballistic shield up. I’ve held back bot drops back to back on difficulties 8 and up with the shield/crossbow combo with a HMG secondary. Makes me feel like a one man army lol.

Dogbreath requires a pretty insane amount of micromanagement with the manual recall. keeping that little idiot useful requires a crazy amount of actions But for bugs at least it pays off a little when used that way.

Now I want an arc dog. Concussive would probably be OP, and fire would probably just kill helldivers almost exclusively. But a Thunderdog? Imagine being able to just have a little flying guy stunlock hunters for you.

I would probably rate the Shield Gen Pack opposite of what you have here... S for bugs and A for Bots heres why... Bugs have a few enemy types that have an acid burn stagger effect such as Bile Spewers, Bile titans and even the dreaded Hunter. This shield negates this stagger possibly saving your live. But as for the bots, fighting enemies such as the rocket devastators hampers your gameplay because the shield is essentially a much larger hit box. This results in possibly being hit more often and of course being ragdolled more often...Honestly didnt know that you could reload MG43 as you fly with the jetpack, need to go on the game and try this.

I usually take it everywhere, but come to think of it, the bots grazing it is probably a bad thing. It is absolutely S tier for bugs though. The real strength of it is having the only real flinchproof effect in the game, since the new warbond armor sure as hell won't give you that.

Ballistic shield needs a rework. No other backpack stratagem else in game is completely non-functional against an entire faction. Everything does something, except for the BS. It’s also the only piece of equipment that can be outright destroyed.

never got behind the shieldbackpack "hype", yeah sounds neat and all, but never felt worth taking, its not that hart to avoid situations where you would need it, for me its a "coping bubble" to compensate the own ability to survive and but also hindering to learn it, got many mates that constantly took this thing didnt made a big difference and gave a false sense of security, got them to use other stuff and they never looked back or died more often, quite the opposite they learnd to survive without and had a strategem slot free for other stuff. Its just my view and expirience, take what you like i simply dont see it so good as it sometimes made to be, and would always take for self defence a jumppack, or if i run a Flamethrower the Gas Rover, i agree that its somtimes a bit wierd how it behave, but with an Torcher or Flamethrower its pretty good maybe its the closer distance you operate in to get better results, i qute like the crowdcontrol it provides while spreading fire dots.

Its main use is negating the slowdowns from bile bugs. They can still put the slow debuff on you when they miss for some reason.
