Whether he was genuinely concerned for Rhett or not has nothing to do with the part that was bothering Rhett. It was how Link went about it. Clearly you weren't listening to what Rhett was saying, or u didn't understand. Asking a question like "Do you feel disappointed, or like failure?" implies that there is something that person thinks you should feel disappointed, or like a failure about. Even if you feel like they should feel disappointed in themselves, you shouldn't make that known. Especially to a friend, and asking a question like that, shows exactly that.

Link knows that Rhett is really hard on himself whenever he can’t do something correctly and actually be good at doing it. Rhett has said this about himself when talking about his personality type and enneagram number. The fact that Rhett got so defensive and then started picking Link apart just goes to show that Rhett did feel like a failure and was upset that he couldn’t be the best at shoeing the horse. Link could have just stood there and laughed while watching Rhett try to shoe the horse but instead he tried helping by offering Rhett a supporting knee and then asking continuously if he is ok. I definitely agree with the taking things at face value vs interpreting it as an attack part. I struggle with subtext so admittedly I didn't even think of how what link said could be misinterpreted, but it seems weird that Rhett acknowledged it as subtext and instead of giving link the benefit of the doubt or asking him what he meant, he just assumed his assumption was correct.

I understand both their sides in the emotional convo but also Rhett seemed a bit too smug and passive aggressive as he was explaining to Link how Link should ask how someone is doing. It was belittling Link and if I was him I would feel hurt about being schooled and laughed at to that degree in front of everyone. Team Link

I've rewatch the show to understand how everything unfolded.. at the beginning Link said a couple of jokes and Rhett didn't pick them up, like usual, because he was clearly exhausted.. I think Link read those initial interactions like frustration or even disappointment toward him maybe .. and in the anxiety of the moment he worded his concern in the wrong way.. After that Rhett brain started to work at full speed and became, rightly, a little defensive.. Meanwhile Link was still at the beginning of the "argument" because that was his main concern that Rhatt wasn't sad/mad at him or himself.. Ps I love you Guys .. this was one of the most interesting More ever

I think what Rhett was getting at is that you need to listen and not tell or believe how people are. Link seemed to be trying to get him to admit to something Rhett does not want to or even need to admit to. I very much enjoyed the intellectual conversation on how to empathize and communicate.

And coming from link's point of view- if Rhett didn't want to answer, he could've and should've just said that instead of skirting around it. It's really frustrating for people with a direct method of communication to have to do mental gymnastics to understand when people just decide not to answer a question. "I don't want to answer" is a full answer, but avoiding answering is not.

We individually navigate emotions differently but it feels like it borders on ableism to me when people use the terms "emotionally intelligent/unintelligent" just because someone doesn't respond in a "normal" or natural way. Also Link, if you ask: “are you upset” and the person says “no, im tired” . That’s it. You can’t inflict your assumption on them. You have to believe them. If you want to talk about a certain feeling, talk about your perspective, never assuming people feel the way YOU think they feel.

It started that way, but they are entertainers first and started leaning into it for the show. They've gotten really good at expanding on an idea and turning it into something watchable. This episode went perfectly, farriers put up with alot of work and destroy their bodies. It was highly entertaining. Also the emotional education part was deeply reflective. I think what Rhett was feeling at the end of the episode was a come down of adrenaline. Link was trying to continue with a bit and also maybe enjoying watching something be difficult for Rhett. In link's mind Rhett can do almost anything so it must be truly odd for him to see his friend in this position. Rhett was feeling under attack, as his true emotions he likes to hide. at least the ones he doesn't find desirable. You guys rock and I enjoy watching how you deal with these situations!

I really liked this More episode, and I completely understand where Rhett was coming from. Even if Link had genuine concern about Rhett, that wasn't the only thing he was conveying. It was how Link went about it. Asking a question like "Do you feel disappointed, or like failure?" implies that there is something that u feel that person should feel disappointed, or like a failure about. Even if you feel like they should feel disappointed in themselves, you shouldn't make that known. Especially to a friend, and asking a question like that, shows exactly that.

I had to learn how to cut a cow's claws when I was working on a dairy farm (they're called claws instead of hooves because they have two). It is actually quite stressful emotionally because of the responsibility you have for that animal. It feels like taking an exam but someone else has to bare the consequences if you screw up. In that case, an animal. I don't believe that Rhett only felt exhausted. Hence, I also think it was warranted when Link kept asking him how he "really" feels.

Honestly, I loved the Morning. It was something new, and I love horses. It was also really nice to see a more serious side (as much as I obviously love the silly side of them). It was nice to see Link trying to support Rhett as well. And it was obvious how much it meant to Rhett to see it through, until the concern for the horse came above his stubbornness and persistence to finish. He did great. And it was STILL entertaining. That's not even a question. As far as the More, same thing. Nice to see a serious, "human" side to it. I was also still "entertained". I listened, I watched to the end. I enjoyed the content of both episodes. I didn't see any sort of failure in either episode.
