"with a real human man... how boring." I died laughing 😂I honestly would be interested to hear your thoughts on Harrow the Ninth but I also think some issues you had with Gideon would be worse.

I took the reader tone quiz and I'm smack dab in the middle. Does this mean I'm picky? Am I demanding the best of all worlds or something? 😂 My favorite books are Realm of the Elderlings (especially the Fitz books), Stormlight Achive (especially Oathbringer), the Ender's game series (especially the first two books), and Beartown by Fredrik Backman. Do I need a re diagnosis? I don't feel like I'm neutral... Sure, I tend to flip flop between character focused fantasy and intellectual atmospheric sci-fi, but still

I would definitely say that a lot of those books you name are around Gainsboro Gray. If you want a rediagnosis, just take the test again and don't let yourself pick any of the "(no preference)" kind of answers, as the tend to lead toward the grays that are mixes of the preferences

Harrow the Ninth follows Harrow instead of Gideon as our point of view character, so I think the voice issues you had with Gideon as main character wouldn't be an issue for book 2. BUT, book 2 is incredibly confusing intentionally. *mild spoiler* for reasons that come to light toward the end of the book, Harrow is an unreliable narrator of her own experience, and she also very much DOES NOT know what is going on. So if the confusion aspect really bothers you, you will have less of a clue what's going on in book 2, especially on the first read through (it really holds up on a second read-through, though). I think you'd like book 3, as it doesn't have either the voice or the confusing narrative part, but if you're not invested, it's hard to recommend moving forward.
