Dvb holland “She forces him to his knees” No, she reaches into the dark side and makes him drop to one knee for a few seconds, simply enjoying the “fight”. He stands back up without any effort or exertion, he’s simply enjoying seeing a Jedi fall to the dark side. She is still a Jedi MASTER. She barely kept him down for a second. This is still the strongest Vader has ever looked in CANON. I mean, he crumbled a blast door like it was paper mache.

The biggest tragedy is that EA is going to see the success of this game and when Fallen Order 2 comes out they're going to Monetize the flying fuck out of it. The cutscene for beating the ninth sister was insanely good. The way she just kept going after losing a hand and shouting “Isolation! Torture! Mutilation!” in time with the lightsaber strikes was awesome and kind of satisfying. Also, you never mentioned Merrin joining in against Malicos. I thought that made the fight even better.

I have to disagree with you on Trilla's placement. Even with her weakness to Force Slow, Trilla is a highly aggressive boss that leaves few openings, and her attacks can blow through your stamina in a minuscule number of strikes. Putting all of the mechanics of the fight aside, however, I love the build-up to your duel against her. Like I said on your difficulty ranking, Trilla plays a similar role to Genichiro Ashina in Sekiro. She is a showcase for not only your skill as a player but also Cal's growth as a character. Both go through traumatic events that force them to forget who they are, but where Cal's journey forces him to accept what happened and his inability to help, Trilla never had that chance until the end of her life. This version is much better than the ideological conflict between Sekiro and Genichiro because we get to see both sides of the story. I would give Trilla the gold medal for bosses in Fallen Order. Otherwise, I agree with your listing. The Planetary Bosses could have been better.

I definitely agree, but Malicos would have been my #1 with Trilla a close second. Malicos was by far the coolest, most fun, s I spectacular boss in the game. He was so nimble, nullified your force powers with ease and had relentless attacks. When you got far away from him he would throw boulders and his sabers at you awkwardly so it wasn't easy to deflect. Fighting him felt like to force users with laser swords just going at it and I absolutely loved every second.

Tim Macone I would agree too but malicos is a bit easier because merrin comes to help in the later 1/2 of the battle making it easy to win once you reach the half way point ( it doesn’t make a fair fight either ) ..... but TRILLA is a proper dual !

To me, the narrative, the Cinematic flair, the arena, his ferocious attacks... All should have made him #1. But I definitely agree with the second half being much easier due to Merrin, this is my only issue with the good bosses in this game. I would love bigger health pools and more variation on movesets in each phase so we can fight them longer and have more to figure out mid fight keeping us on our toes. Trilla is certainly a close second though, I loved that fight too.

You know what grinds my gears? The unblockable attacks are kind of arbitrary. They are often not differentiated from "normal" attacks in my opinion (what about the stormtrooper commander's wombo combo makes it so dangerous when you can block a bite attack from a giant frog newt monster?) it's easy enough to memorize them, it just seems like you could switch any given unblockable for any other attack combo and there wouldn't be much of a difference; this is especially highlighted when you go up against an enemy that still has the "shine" from having previously killed you so that you don't see the red highlight. I wish that the game was a little more like Sekiro in this regard with clearly defined criteria for what sort of attack is unblockable.

I think that's what made Sekiro so nice with essentially the same melee combat system. you have to rely on blocking and parrying the same way but the unblockables are actually indicated by a character that glows in the air when they're making the attack. Brief window to recognize and react to a move that could be a sweep. stab, or gab so you didn't get all of the information given to you by the danger sign, but you DID know something different needed to be done. Fallen order is great for a star wars game, but once again Fromsoftware holds the top tier.

Does anyone else feel like the split saber ability does too much damage? I played on grandmaster and it one shots almost every base enemy in the game. It also does so much damage to bosses. Even if they block it the posture damage it delivers means that they can only block 2 to 3 depending on the boss. The damage would be fine if it wasn't so easy to hit people with it. Especially when you layer it with slow. I understand rewarding people for combining force abilities but for the amount of damage it does either it needs to use more force, which doesn't make much difference once BD can replenish your force, or it needs to not hit so fast. The dual baton enemies will attempt to dodge if you slow and then hit then with the split saber but majority of the time they die and even if they dodge the end of it they are left at one HP.

On the flip side once you use it a few times you can't pair it with slow because you don't have enough force, but it is clearly the standout force-meter-using ability for 1v1 battle.

That’s how I beat Trilla. Got her back against the abyss, force slow and then split sabre attack, the first one breaks her guard, second and third lands for massive damage. Almost felt like cheating. Almost.

A gauntlet waved based mode where you could design your own challenge would be amazing. It would be like a simulation on the ship and you could choose what enemies you want each wave up to a certain capacity or a boss fight. Malicos would also prolly just end up being harder since it would be weird to have the nightsister in the simulation, but that would be cool to fight him again but harder. Also, maybe boss health modifiers could be put there and whatever else options respawn wants to add. Think this is a great dlc idea.

I think a system like Ocarina of Time would work wonderfully, in which link could rest in bed and "dream" of the fight, allowing you to have a rematch. Having cal be able to meditate on the mantis and replay boss fights would be 1: relatively easy to implement , and 2: would be really awesome what with the absence of NG+ and all.

What difficulty were you playing on because Trilla was difficult. The lower her health was, the faster and more aggressive she became. Her saber throws came at you faster each time you parried on and nearly depleted your stamina after 1 block, she had a droid that would further deplete your stamina and hacking them would leave you wide open, she had flash bangs so you could see if an attack was unblockable, and she had that one unblock that she would do where if you were too close to her you couldn’t dodge it neither so it would basically be an auto hit and it would do so much damage. I was playing on Jedi Master and after failing for 3 hours I had to switch to to Jedi knight.

Darth Vader - This is the only right way to do this fight. Basicly: You cannot win and you must run. He is the dark lord, the most powerful sith, what did you expect, you are still too green to face him. This one gets extra points because Force Unleashed screwed Vader fight really badly, this did it well. This brings the same feeling I got with Rogue One, when Vader joins the fray. Gorgara - Easily one of my favorites and this should have been standard for each world (and for future titles) when comes to beast bosses. I really like the design of the boss and the area. Challenge is tough, but fair. Not to mention is pretty epic overall. I might add this as one of my favorite bosses of the year and this is even better than many of the Devil May Cry V bosses, and that is a LOT. Taron Malicos - This is actually very cool fight in all the right places. Boss looks cool, idea is great and area looks epic. Overall it is challenging fight and real final boss material. Lightsaber wielder done right. Bounty hunters - If only they were all unique, they would get individal spots since idea is great. But they are just copies of each other, only the combo changes (was really that hard to come up unique bounty hunters that might come alone or as a team). But first time they are pretty cool and partly because they ambush you. I like the idea, surprisingly much. Ninth Sister - Very basic lightsaber wielder and fight itself is not half bad, but character is very bland. Challenge and lightsaber dueling is done very well and I really like the area. Trilla Suduri - Very disappointing "main villain" in design (idea is good) and fight is never really that engaging or memorable. Final battle should be epic and this is not. AT-ST - Pretty easy, but pretty cool fight overall. "Legendary" beasts - Just bulky versions of ordinary enemies. Second Sister - There is two very similar fight and both follow the same pattern, with little extra second time. These very annoying interrupted fights, where you can't win, even if you are really good. First time is excusable since it is tutorial. I found the Ninth Sister the easiest of the Lightsaber duels (well, besides the tease fight with Second Sister), playing it on Grand Jedi Master, but I still totally agree about it being the best boss in the game. She killed me a couple of times, but it was incredibly fun the whole way through. It felt like a Prequel Trilogy lightsaber duel that I was in full control of, just constant clashing of sabers, dodging and force powers, there was never a dull moment, and the entire thing felt incredibly cinematic while not devolving into a simple button mash or a QTE, and when I actually defeated her, it was a huge thrill and a great sense of accomplishment. Fantastic design, just incredible. Conversely, I hated the fight against Malicos, and likely for the exact reason you mentioned: Difficulty changes parry timing, and Grand Master made parrying him incredibly difficult. Beyond that, I didn't like how he liked to play keep-away by constantly jumping away and pushing you away (a problem I also had with Trilla) which made it less aesthetically pleasing than Ninth Sister, though credit where it's due, it was cool he'd throw rocks at you, and cooler that whether he blocks it or gets a rock in a face depends on how quickly you push it back. Also, to be fair, my hatred of the fight was partially my fault, because there was one combo string of attacks that I got fooled by every - single - time. I learned most all of his other combos, even the extended version of those combos, but there was one combo... Ok, he just did his unblockable falling strike attack, time to get some hits in, oh goddamnit i forgot he added more attacks to that, here comes that whirlwind while i'm stunlocked aaaaaaaand I'm dead. My fault on that, I knew the attack continued but I got fooled by it every time. Still was my least enjoyable lightsaber duel though.

Yeah idk played on master and Grand Master, both times I found ninth sister relatively easy to the rest of the force users. Her charge was not super difficult to avoid imo

I played through the whole game with 2 heals cause i didnt know you could get more. The first half i could go through on grand master difficulty but towards the end i had to switch the difficulty to jedi knight, it just got way too hard by then. lol

In the fight with Trilla, I just forgot to use slow ...since Malicos blocked slow, I didn't use it on her either. Without slow, she was really hard to beat. But strangely,the 9th sister only took me 2 tries, also without using slow on her

One note for Gorgera, the slams that leave his wings on the ground for a while, if you attack them you can "break them". Do this to both wings, and you can force pull him to the ground and have a nice moment to punish his four head weak spot.

The rule of 2 was still active, and the only exceptions to that rule were the inquisitoriate, of which there were only around 18 (less since they get killed surprisingly often in Comics, Rebels, and now Jedi: Fallen Order) of them in the whole galaxy, compared to the thousands of Jedi that existed prior to order 66. Force users were rare, even for Sith.

Honestly, my favorite boss from Fallen Order was definitely the Ninth Sister. Unlike the Second Sister, Ninth Sister isn't here to toy with you, she comes after you with lethal intent! From how she physically towers over Cal to how she forces the player to be both reactive and proactive, Ninth Sister is definitely a fan favorite for me.

I too thought that the beastie bosses felt uninspired as actual bosses but I did think that as mini bosses of each area they were pretty cool because they test your skill on that certain type of enemy so I agree with you 95% because if we were to class them as mini bosses they do the job I think they were intended for re skin or not

Little thing about Mallacos, he can be force pushed right before he does an attack which makes his fight super easy. It doesnt delete all his stamina but makes him 1 shot from breaking if you already have the lightsaber damage up perk

I'd have to agree with you, the ninth sister wasn't a super difficult fight by any stretch of the imagination but I found myself really enjoying it. As long as you kept to the rythm of the duel, it was fairly simple but after missing a parry once or twice you realise how much of a fine line there is between success and failure.

I played on Jedi Grand Master and felt that the parrying window was unusably narrow. [I learned parrying from playing Sekiro and finished the game with Sword Saint Isshin Ashina ending] So I skipped it and went straight to dodging, slowing, dual wield attacks. I had a much harder time with Taron Malicos with the Ninth Sister. As interesting and challenging this game is, it has glaring issues like broken combat and controls, often, attacks don't register, BD-1 doesn't give you a Stim on command and such.

My favorite hands down is Malicos . In Grand Master difficulty it gave me some serious Sekiro Genichiro vibes. Also I actually found the Monsters to be great for the challenge in Grand Master and the bounty hunters were also always fun. At-St again in Grand Master took me like ten tries to get right

Fitting how you use Nightmare King Grimm’s theme for Darth Vader and call him “Your Nightmares.” (Nightmare King Grimm is from the game Hollow Knight. I highly suggest getting this Metroidvania as it is very fun to play, the puzzles are sometimes challenging until you get the specific ability, requirement or you just figure it out on your own, and some of the enemies are downright hilarious to fight.)
