SDS imo is a top 3 POA while also being an elite PnR ball handler and her defensive playmaking is underrated which leads to a good amount of transition opportunities. If she was better from 3 she would be over Sabrina imo.

Sabrinia is not someone you want directing traffic. Have you seen the Liberty Championship series, everything was sloppy. It looked like Liberty did not have a general on the floor. A good point guard will take sloppyness and clean it up. Example look at Fever, when CC goes out everything becomes sloppy. CC comes back in and she can control the game, point to where players should be, pass to an open player, move without the ball, set picks. A point guard needs to see 1 move ahead of their defender. They should be a pass first and shoot second kind of player.

Great video, prior to the Olympic break ionescu was in the mvp race but that slight neck injury post break hurt her but she came up HUGE in some playoff sports Caitlin and Sabrina will be exchanging spots 1 and 2 for years to come

Dana as an average rotation player this year is crazy. She was the most negative player on the Sky and is obviously a 2 after how poorly the experiment went with her at PG.

Another great video BUT Natasha Cloud over Courtney Williams 😬. Gotta disagree. Defensively and playmaking goes to NC easily. And I think CW is great but her over dribbling is a problem at times. Great shot creator tho and has shown great signs of playmaking. Tho it is the first time she’s been asked to play that role.

I would take Cloud over Williams if we talk about using Williams as a PG, imo she's too often not getting the ball into the right hands, dribbling the air out of the ball and then attempting a bad shot, especially in the finals this year

Sabrina is not a point guard. Clark is a way better point guard Sabrina looks uncomfortable with ball pressure. I seen that in the Olympics too vs France

Maybe she is 2 or 3… but her on and off ball defense is so bad to me that it knocks her down a peg… tbh i think the new (second stint) coach will make sure she is more committed to defense and building her body to play better defensively and to take hits offensively

I don't think of Ionescu as a true point guard. Her decision making has caused problems for the Liberty. She's also a streaky shooter. SDS deserves a higher ranking, as does Cloud.

Thanks Hunter! I enjoyed the rankings and commentary. I only have one question and I was just wondering why Kelsey Mitchell is not on this list? I mean, maybe I’m missing something because I still have alot to learn Being this is the first year that I tuned into The WNBA, and College level players etc, So regarding Player positions, I’m not sure how the ranking works versus their positions or various things like that. I feel that Kelsey had an outstanding year, and is so versatile. And even though I’m a diehard Fever Fan, I wasn’t questioning why Kelsey wasn’t on the list for that reason, just simply for the reasons of Her Stats thisvyear, and that I guess I dont quite understand the overall Ranking Criteria. PG is the least talented position in the W. Especially factoring in both sides of the court. Ur top 2 r players their teams hide on D. Agree the previous best, Gray & Sloot struggled this yr. Skylar got off to a bad start but finished strong. Courtney admitted she doesn't even like playing point. On ball D, disrupting the other teams sets, ball handling & running half court sets r critical to the pg position. Very few have mastered these skills

I would say most of the Guards in the WNBA year had historically BAD shooting years. But I bet most of them still were decent One on One defenders. Gray is by far the best passing Guard in the WNBA. So many of the still in College Guards are so much better then the fading Guards of most of the WNBA. So they better watch out before those Young Ones take most of their jobs.

A player that's a horrible One on One Defender can Never be considered the best PG in the WNBA. EVER. Compounding that with by far leading the League in Turnovers. No other player is remotely close in Turnovers. Winning Titles is 99% about first, Defense and Rebounding and that's why the Liberty had such Huge Leads over the Lynx in the Finals at times. Sabrina and CC had some of the By FAR worst Playoffs in WNBA history shooting 3s, their Bread and Butter. So neither gets points for that either. So in spite of Sabrina and the Liberty literally being handed the WNBA Crown, she nor CC were all that this year.

No she wasn’t all that she just broke or set 63 records leading and breaking the W record for assists. And most of her turnovers were her players not able to handle her passes. That will change next year.oh she also lead all guards in blocks and close in steals.
