The Trent Richardson Trade always makes me laugh. A top-5 pick gets traded for a first and bombs, and then the team that traded him uses that pick to trade up for Johnny Manziel.

the favre trade is a tricky one, because at the time, and he’s admitted this, he wasn’t focused on the game and spent a lot of time on Peachtree Street (code in the locker room for one of the many fine atlanta establishments). Jerry Glanville didn’t like him and said he was never going to start him and when he did, his numbers were awful: 0/4, 2 interceptions, 11 rushing yards. he wasn’t going to be good in Atlanta for a number of reasons, but mostly because he personally needed somewhere like Green Bay that would push him to be better

The Jets and Browns in 2009. Two trades. 1st and 2nd, 2 decent players and 3rd string QB for the 5th Pick specifically for Mark Sanchez. Few months later I think a 3rd, 5th, Chansi Stuckey and another player for Braylon Edwards. Say what you will about Sanchez, but The Jets became Dominant for a few years with Sanchez and Edwards. The Browns then trade the pick 2 more times and get the Very Very Good Center Alex Mack. It required a lot of work and luck, but they got a good one. Everybody won the trade between the two teams that in all reality should have found a way to fuck it all up...which eventually they did when Sanchez fell apart and Alex Mack walked in Free Agency.

Chicago traded a 1st rounder for Rick Mirer when it was clear he was not capable of being more then a flash in the pan. They got a 4th rounder that didn't amount to much, downgraded needlessly at QB for a few games while handing him a contract extension. Oh, did I forget to mention there were those in the organization who thought Tony Gonzalez was a better option? You know, a guy who is arguably the standard you weigh yourself against as a TE in the modern pass happy NFL that lasted longer then most franchise QB's career length wise? Whoever made that trade to get out of a QB bust and acquire a pro bowl caliber CB in Shawn Springs should've went to Vegas. The Chicago papers bemoaned it as it was happening, bringing up how many QB's have failed to be anything like Sid Luckman. Chicago is still looking for their next Luckman.

@xdmaster78882 жыл бұрын
I think the (U.S. Sen-Nowhere) Herschel Walker trade deserves a special place in history because it involved the worst MISUNDERSTANDING inside a major trade in sports history. The late Minnesota GM Mike Lynn was so wrongly certain that Dallas would keep all of the decent veterans that he shipped there, that he barely gave any thought to the draft pick-attachments for these players. So Jimmy Johnson's master plan of just cutting all the Viking veterans and keeping the picks landed Dallas a ton of quality Round 1-3 picks. And this was also a kind of unicorn trade, in that it was the last major deal I can remember where player/draft pick values were even 1% of what we got here. It was historic in so many ways, and so bad for the Vikes in a unique way.
@doncheechako80842 жыл бұрын

Horrible trades screw one or two teams. Watson is the worst, because it screws ALL teams. Any quarterback negotiating with a team is going to point at that and say "if he can get that deal after what he did, I certainly can. You're going to pay me top dollar and it will be 100% guaranteed, no exceptions" That being said, I hate that the NFL is the seemingly the only major sport where contracts aren't already guaranteed, so it's good to see something forced the league to do that, but it shouldn't have taken the dumbass Browns to make an all-time horrible decision to do it.
