A bit hard to do now when you consider that the voice of Kuno, Colone, and Ukyo had all passed away. While it's certainly possible to re-cast these characters, it's usually customary not to out of respect for the deceased, but it's a case by case situation

Since Urusei Yatsura finally have a reboot, then Ranma 1/2 should get one too. I'm thinking since the original UY anime aired in 1981 while the reboot came out in 2022, I think maybe the Ranma 1/2 reboot anime would come out in 2030 since the original Ranma 1/2 anime came out in 1989. There might be a noticeable pattern here. With this 8-year time gap, I think David Production will have a lot of time to make the reboot happen. Hopefully the studio won't have many projects to work on during that timeframe, or went bankrupt for some reason.

Nah, reboots rarely get it right and it would feel rather dated if they were trying to make it more modernized. If anything, it needs a series revival and do what InuYasha did in the Final Act series.

kinda reminds me of street fighter 2 v(which i'd fully recommend especially for it's music and choreography as it's kinda an alternate universe to the animated movie having the people who worked on it & taking ideas from a shelved sequel.) getting cut short from its original 50 episodes to 26 quickly wrapping up the story due to shin chan taking ratings/it unfortunately not being that popular outside brazil and don't think death threats should be given to an author from circumstances like that but with how controversial/insensitive his later stuff is can kinda also see why.

I don't get it because I haven't seen it, but Obocchama-kun looks obnoxious! How could Ranma ½ lose to that?! Then again, Ranma was one of the first ever big series to come to America, so I'm kind of biased...

Obuchamma kun is obnoxious south Asians watch it on a tv and we can definitely say it is one of the worst Japanese animes it had so many cringe and dirty jokes that it will take an year to count

I heard it was because the anime had outpaced the manga, so they had to can it. But come on, how can just 18 episodes outpace a manga series, one from Takahashi no less. There couldn't have been so little source material that 18 episodes was able to cover it all

Not really. The first episode of the anime debuted when the 76th chapter (the Romeo and Juliet storyline) was being published in the manga (volume 8 of the manga). So while there was not a tremendous lead of manga material to adapt, they certainly hadn't run out of material after the initial 18 episode series or anywhere close to it.

So in the end, it was canceled just because it was competing with Obocchama-kun for the best time slot and failed, causing low rating due to low view counts. I thought it ended pretty abruptly, like a typical cliffhanger ending. Nettōhen on the other hand felt like a whole bunch of fillers, but it's alright since this is a slice of life show, and the humor certainly holds up

I wonder, has Ranma manage to create a stir in the west? Specifically, we often see girl Ranma nude, nipples and all. While I get that it's played for laughs, western parents might not see it that way. Heck, if they didn't know better they'd probably think Rumiko-sensei is some kind of pervert with no shame Toonami co-creator Jason DeMarco once tried to get the show on a programming block, but couldn't find a way to do it because of all the nudity (my guess is that he realizes he can't just censor/cut out the nudity portions as they are integral to the gag in question, take it away and it suddenly makes no sense)

Ranma was wildly popular in the earlier internet days of the late 1990s in the West. After Inuyasha caught on Ranma was sort of eclipsed unfortunately. It's my favorite of Takahashi's work it will always be my mainstay favorite.

Didn't really answer my question though. All I know is Viz media licensed the series in the west, first on VHS, then later DVD and blue ray, and finally streaming on their Neon Alley anime channel, it just didn't say anything about any kind of censorship/cut scenes due to the nudity

Good question! "Nettohen" was the subtitle of second series (sort of like "Naruto: Shippuden" to the original "Naruto" or "Dragon Ball Z" to the original "Dragon Ball"). When read Nettohen literally means "boiling water chapter" or "boiling water edition". The joke is that "Nettohen" can be written another way where it would mean "fierce fighting edition".

Just to clarify, this was only concerning "Ranma 1/2" (which is the first season). "Ranma 1/2 Nettohen" (the rest of the series) returned and aired on a different night.

Viz has fairly recently released the two in one editions which are still available at most bookstores (in America). I must confess my copies are a sundry mix of the original two-chapter comic book style releases from the 1990s that and then the graphic novels when they discontinued those. But the new editions are still in circulation and not hard find in stores or online at the moment.

After Ranma 1/2 Rumiko Takahashi published Ikki Tousen. Then from there Rumiko Takahashi made Inuyasha the manga. Kagome Higurashi is Rumiko Takahashi. Rumiko Takahashi put herself in Inuyasha to make sure dumb guy Inuyasha made it out alive. A different girl made Yashahime manga after the anime was made.
