We are delighted to release this beginners course in Diatonic Button Accordion, taught by the great Rannveig Djønne from Norway. The focus in this course is to learn the absolute basics of the instrument, how to wear it, what all those buttons do, and then also get some tunes while playing both melody and bass. With great visual aids and Rannveigs steady hand to guide you, we are certain that anyone that is interested in learning this incredible instrument can use this course to get started on their journey towards mastery.
The course is played on a G/C accordion.
Rannveig Djønne from Hardanger in Norway is an innovative diatonic button accordion performer with a solid foundation of traditional knowledge. Starting playing when she was eight years she has now played the box for over thirty-five years and has studied at the Ole Bull Academy in Norway. Her main project at the Academy was to play Hardanger fiddle tunes from the area of Hardanger and Voss on the box, which led her to traverse new paths on the instrument.
She has been a Norwegian champion on her instrument twice and several times champion of the west coast. Active both as a soloist, in a duo together with Annlaug Børsheim, and together with various other musicians. The duo Djønne&Børsheim has been touring a lot in Norway, Germany, and Scotland and has probably played over a thousand concerts together.
Rannveig loves to teach and she has been teaching a lot both in Norway (music school, the Ole Bull Academy, summer classes, and so on) in Germany, in Scotland, and in the Netherlands.

Hallo! Do you have (or know of) a video explaining the different tuning systems that diatonic accordions use? Looking at Castagnari, I notice they offer variations on tunings - for example; G/C Norwegian-Swedish System and G/C Marimon. I would _really_ love to know the reasons why one would choose these tunings over the standard. If anyone has any info at all about this, I'd be forever grateful! Tack 🙂🪗

Hi Ted! This course is a grat way to start. Just make sure you have a C/G 2 row button accordion for this course. Rannveig uses a A/D accordion for the advanced course.
