I have a short comment......I love you 2. The National Geographic needs to hire you to do documentaries. Sweden should be so proud.....you guys are definitely a national treasure!

I saved a bald eagle last summer. It flew out over the lake and dove to grab a fish and hit the water hard and couldn't get airborne again. So I grabbed a piece of driftwood and left my wallet and shoes on the beach and swam out to rescue the eagle. It knew I came to help because when I got to him, he let me help him onto the log and I pushed him back to land on the driftwood. We sat on the beach until he dried and I gave him a fish, then he flew circles over my head and calling out. I guess thanking me.

Without a doubt you guys ARE the no 1 sailing channel.......You two never cease to amaze me (and I guess everyone else that sees your videos) with the spectacular, pristine places you visit! And NO humans in sight to spoil what nature has provided, it must be simply mind numbing to have such places to yourselves. Saturday mornings (here in Australia) is always a BIG coffee and sit back and enjoy RAN Sailing......as usual thank you so much for sharing!

I’ve been watching your videos since you left Sweden over two years ago when you made good interesting episodes. It has been fantastic to see you gradually and relentlessly turn the lowly sailing video into a legitimate art form , Seriously. On this episode I particularly liked the way you fit the music to the image. I also like the sense of calm you both project...It is contagious. See you next week.

This portion of your voyage has been absolutely enthralling. Your slow pace through the stunning coastal mountains, fiord like bays, glaciers and waterfalls is almost hypnotic. The eagles, otters and especially the lovely dance of the feeding whales against the misty backdrop of granite and firs. The quiet of the still waters and deep forests with RAN ghosting along is profoundly relaxing. Your joy in this beauty and very expert video production with a subtle soundtrack of water, wind and quiet voices transports us to this wilderness cathedral of natural wonders. Bravo!

I remember a comment here a few months ago complaining that RAN shouldn’t go up to the “gray” North, and instead should stay in the tropics. As someone who has lived and worked in Alaska for six years, I knew your videos would prove that statement wrong.

My favorite part was the way you turned off the engine and coasted along with the whales, getting a fantastic show from a distance. Where I live there are too many boats that get too close--whale watching tours are the worst about that, their outfitters put themselves into a position where they must deliver the experience or risk financial ruin. Thanks for sharing this experience and inspiring us to explore nature without disturbing it too much.

Truly wonderful to see the whales, so many, so close and for so long! I've had dolphins pass me when I've been sailing, but only twice, and I know how wonderful it is to see them. To see whales, in those numbers, must be many, many times better - I am envious!! Thank you for sharing.

We used to pick mussels at low tide several times every summer when I was a kid. They'd cover the southern RI shoreline in front of our house. We'd go out and pick enough so we each had 3 or 4 dozen. We'd simply dip the bodies in melted butter or garlic butter or white wine or dry vermouth and butter and garlic. Tarragon in melted butter with garlic is also a great dipping sauce. Next time you pick mussels, pick a lot more and eat them the same day and have them prepared like this. There is no need to cover their flavor with strong spices. They have a great flavor of their own just dipped in butter. Thanks for the great footage of the marvelous whales!

So glad you stopped in Red Buff. The scenery and serenity is hard to beat. We have have bears come almost right up to the boat in that little cove near where anchored. I should have also mentioned that mountains can sometimes be seen on the rocky cliffs above the anchorage. We have tried following the river up but our small outboard did not make it far. The water gets very fast moving a short ways up and turning around in swift water was an experience. Your whale photography is the best I have seen so difficult to capture the exact moment when they surface but you have done it beautifully. We have been several times to Portage Bay also. One we sought refuge there from a gale just outside. Fortunately as you say the holding is excellent sticky mud and if stick to the east shore the waves are minimal. It is a perfect stop both coming and going to Petersburg. Until next week.....enjoy. BTW we will by back in the Seattle area for Thanksgiving so if you are still around perhaps we can meet again for lunch or dinner. Our treat.

Fuel these days won't last,HINT: draining helps but remember to run the fuel out of it too and put a good shot of WD-40 into carb/tank to expel moisture and make easy re-start later,I am a retired small engine mechanic of 45 years trust me.
