My husband was the soundman during the band's beginning up to just prior to release of their first album. All the band members were so talented and so dedicated to their music, but put the Lord first always. It was such a joy and privilege to know each and every one of them.

Yes it was. I miss Lisa very much and now know I should have been a better friend. I've learned somethings about myself, and some of the things she said to me, now make more sense. I wasn't happy with some of those things she said, but now know she was right and she saw something I had no idea about. Sorry Lisa, you were a better friend than I knew or saw at the time. Also, I realized I might have met you and your husband. I remember going to a concert in the desert with them. On the way back we stayed at a small motel. Oz and Randy slept in the truck to guard the equipment. Us ladies slept in room/s. Don't remember where Michael slept. We were all rudely awakened by the Northridge earthquake (Pretty sure it was that one.), none the less an earthquake. Since we were quite a distance from the epicenter, it wasn't that strong for us, but strong enough completely wake us up. The guys in the truck thought someone was jumping on it. A bittersweet memory.

@turquoismama33 Yes, I remember that event, concert, and night well. Our RUTS dirtbike club sponsored the Meltdown motocross desert race and concert, yet was not the Northridge quake; a different quake, the epicenter that night was only 20 miles away, that's why it was so strong. I remember the band members, and few club members, yet not in touch with any over the years. Wish I had a means to contact you.

My mom, Lisa was the lead singer of Ransom. For those of you who are interested........ Lisa: Loves the Lord, music, world traveler and a successful designer of packaging for well-known SkinCare brands... very creative talent but above all, my best friend! Drummer - Dave: Original Drummer of First Aid and Ransom.... went to be with the Lord over a decade ago due to health issues. Bass - Michael: Last known... .travels the US with his family as a Worship Team. Guitar - Tony: Last known.... still writing and producing music. Drummer - Randy: Last known...relocated with his family to TN. Ransom's music is still as relevant today as it ever was. "SIN KILLLER"! WAKE-UP WORLD. 1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Luke 21:28 - “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

Unfortunately, Ransom broke up in the '90s They were very good, but a major factor keeping them and many Christian metal bands from becoming big in the U.S. is that metal, in general, became less popular in the U.S. in the '90s. Metal is still huge, worldwide, but sadly, not in the U.S.

Singer has a lot of power, shame she didn't have more control over her pitch or she'd be great, like Janet Gardner from Vixen. The guitar tapping is also kinda sloppy and these kind of licks were pretty cliché by 1991. Kind of makes sense that they didn't become more popular at the time.

Ransom was one of the few female fronted heavy metal bands in the 1990s. There was a disturbing dark thrash metal outfit that came out around this time as the lead singer died from alcohol poisoning as the band produced two albums. Within The Veil as the album took cues from Danzig but with even more tormented vocals as Dawn had a track called Betrayed as the line in there was "you fucking goddamn king of the world." Ransom would been one of those bands my church friends who listen to heavy metal would had their hands on as I discovered Metal Church's Blessing In Disguise. Vengeance Rising and Tourniquet were the two who wrote challenging lyrics during this era as I was discovering Testament and Meliah Rage, I was listening to Danzig openly at this point. Vocally I am influenced by the really pissed off thrash metal vocals as I wanted to challenge and question in 1996 I couldn't find the ballsy musicians to undertake this -- especially piss on The King James Only Movement for vilifying heavy metal and calling it the Devil's music. I was cornered by church mates because I listen to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Metal Church, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Treponem Pal and Trouble. Some greeters sifted through my heavy metal tapes looking for dark lyrics. I read books on the dark side of Christian History as I was 19 as I also thumbed through The Satanic Bible. I wanted to take on Marilyn Manson as I did dark subject matter without the damned genderfucking. I found Dehumanizer by Black Sabbath and the Ozzy era as I pulled out the black clothing after hearing the first Sabbath album. Female fronted metal in the 1980s and early 1990s were not challenging the status quo like Fear of God or Holy Moses. They came out in the shadow of Metallica's thrash metal monster And Justice For All. Ransom needs to explore challenging subject matter such as what happens when one plays God. That was subject matter I wanted to explore in the most explicit way as it makes for a Gothic Metal or thrash metal device as playing God refers to human cloning or animal cloning. I was discovering Metallica and Iron Maiden when Ransom was getting noticed then when I became a Christian I was looking for more secular thrash metal as I found Overkill's I Hear Black, Testament's The Ritual, Black Sabbath's Dehumanizer as I also had the angry vocals at age 19 as I discovered Danzig's Thralldemonsweatlive and latter How the Gods Kill. When I was trying to form a dark thrash metal band the musicians in Wheaton took cues from 80s Glam Metal and were influenced by Ransom and Whitecross (they didn't have access to Metallica or Slayer as they were from strict Christian homes and were forbidden to listen to the Megaforce records roster.) My first exposures to female fronted metal were Fear of God then Hellion, my friends Grigori 3 and A.D.D. then Rain Fell Within (I found this band in 2002 as friends Novembers Doom were label mates with them on Dark Symphonies) as they took a dark approach similar to European Symphonic Metal. In 2006 I almost hit up Rex Carroll of Whitecross to explore doing a Gothic Doom/Thrash Metal outfit as I would been the lyricist and vocalist as I almost became a vocalist for a metalcore band that drew from ancient Greek history as they got the name of their band from an ancient battle where the Greeks burned their ships when they went to battle with Persia. Greek Mythology was one of my childhood influences as I took from Roman Mythology when I write horror as I used the term Hades and the river Styx (the reference to paying the ferryman.) I drew from 1990s underground metal as I grew up on 1980s metal that scared the crap out of MTV as Metallica introduced One (this track is disturbing as I can belt the track out using Master of Puppets era vocals and Vulgar Display of Power style Pantera vocals on Darkness and Landmine as I can sing these parts a little faster than James Hetfield.) I was the one who was introducing my church mates at College Church to underground secular thrash as I listen to Metallica openly as I went looking for Master of Puppets after becoming a Christian. I got dirty looks at Christian metal shows because I wore a Metallica shirt that had a half-decayed raven perched on the planet earth. I discovered Far Beyond Driven by Pantera when I heard two Christian metal acts lamblasting the album. I was introduced to Die Happy's second album as I had Anthrax's Spreading the Disease in my walkman.

I listen to all kinds of metal, Christian bands and non-Christian bands. There are many Christian metal groups (in the past and today) which explore dark and challenging themes in their music. Bloodgood did so with "Alone in Suicide," and many other songs. Sacred Warrior did so with their album, "Wicked Generation." The group in the video above, Ransom, released a second album where they wrote about euthanasia and other serious issues.
