I remember hearing Phillip's sound all those years ago, l was completely astonished. Had the biggest influence on my playing, and l have never forgotten it since. There are many truly great cornet players around, but there is only one Phillip McCann. He is such a special player, very unique.

Best cornet sound ever. No contest. My favourite cornet player is still David Daws but this sound is utterly sublime!

Awesome, another gem from the master, thanks for posting.. I've got a couple of classics from Mr McCann from when he was at Fairies as a very young man & as a guest soloist at the Natonals, just need to work out how to post them, any tips much appreciated

@ David A. Paulson I have to disagree with you when you say euphonium is harder to play than Cornet. I play trumpet, cornet, flugel horn, euphonium and tuba. Each has their pro's and con's. I actually think that between them all the euphonium especially if it is compensated is the easiest. I do own a trombone and have a brother that plays trombone as well and while I have played around on one and even played a concert once on one I would not call myself a trombonist. I will say this I do find I own easily 2-3 notes higher on the cornet. I have an LA Olds Ambassador cornet that I can easily get 3 notes higher on. I use a Mt. Vernon 3C Cornet MP. Most people that I know though say just the opposite they claim their range is less on a cornet. Tuba was the easiest to play but the hardest to truly play with skill. The breath support and control was really hard to manage. Obviously just an opinion.
