Funny you should mention Home Bargains because ive just bought 2 Ranunculus from there a few weeks ago. Ive never had them before so im so glad I've just watched this video. 👍😁 unfortunately i have no ground in my back garden, everything i grow is in pots, so im going to have to do the "shade the pot" thing. Ive got lots of other pots i can stand in front of the pot, so thanks for that tip. Ive noticed they are very thirsty plants. And you know what the best thing about buying them in Home Bargains was one of them was reduced to 2p 😮 obviously a mistake but they had to let me have it for that. So happy dsys.. 😆😆🌺🌼👍 x

It’s because it’s too late now. They don’t like it too hot. Unless your summer is cooler but I’d wait and start them next year.

Thanks again Jill, I bought some on Thursday at the flower market (huge and beautiful) didn’t know what to do, ground or pot? This makes sense with most of the plants Ive bought over the last few years especially for the pots, only good for that year! I paid too much money last year for one I especially loved that’s barley visible this year (I’ve fed & covered with a cloche 🙏) I started pot planting because I’ve millions of snails & slugs 🐌🐌😞 hence why Ive not been confident planting anything out directly in the soil, they just wipe everything out almost over night, it such a shame! Any humane tips & tricks ??. I have been known to collect them in a large container & take to nr by woods before now! you’ve heard of the mad cat lady, she’s got nothing on me 😂 🐌🐌Another great informative video TY 💞🌺🪴

They are beautiful flowers there’s no doubt about that. I haven’t found slugs to be a problem at all with ranunculus. So you might be ok. A cloche does deter them because it keeps things hotter and drier which they don’t like. For me I just encourage birds into my garden. When I first moved in the garden was full of slugs, you couldn’t even walk down the path without treading on them but since going organic the bird and predator population has increased so slugs have been much less of a problem. Someone suggested wool. Old jumpers cut up around the plants as the slugs don’t like tue texture. I suspect hessian would have the same effect. Maybe worth a try. 🌼🌸🌺
