This Man Peshwa Baji Rao, never got the true credit in history and its sad. Shivaji and Peshwa Bajirao, the two greatest Marathas ever born were the true architects of Maharashtra and Marathi culture. Shivaji made it strong and Baji Rao spreads in entire India. Shivaji Raje did get his credit in history but Baji Rao did not get it. It's high time we should make this man famous.

Peshwa means Pant Pradhan, in Maratha Empire. At their time all marathi speaking people were Maratha. Chhatrapati Shahu extended rights of Peshwa in his time, peshwas started fighting wars for maratha Empire. Nirmal not really. The army worked for chhatrapati. And Chhatrapati gave major army under command of his prime minister. So whatever money that was collected half of that was to be given to chhatrapati Shahu MAHARAJ. Peshwas became the defacto rulers after shahu maharajs death in 1749 until Panipat in 1761. Because Chhatrapatis son died at a young age and he had to adopt a son to become Chhatrapati. The fact that he wasn't real heir of Shivaji maharaj his importance diminished.
