It's quite incredible how he seems to have built endless goodwill in a cynical industry in just a few years that he's been here. And what's most striking is, how he could convincingly pull off Bajirao at 7 films old when most actors (in bollywood) are just barely starting off. This one is a gem!

I dismissed him as a show off and attention seeker when he came on the scene, but I can say that he's way more interesting as an actor and as a personality because of his nature and different take on life. I'd rather watch him than run of the mill stars like Shahrukh khan and others whose priority is becoming and maintaining a brand image. Nothing wrong with that but not for me.

fau2an100 U do realize that Sachin Tendulkar looked upto Viv Richards and Brian Lara and yet became the Sachin Tendulkar and Shah Rukh Khan has told that he's copied Nana Patekar or Jackie Shroff for certain scenes yet he's a much bigger star than Nana Patekar and certainly a better actor than Jackie Shroff. So, my friend one can learn from anybody and yet make a distinct identity for himself. I hope u understand my point now.

Deepak Nag again, being inspired by a couple of actors here and there is different than outright copying someone. SRK is inspired by many yet claims that he made a career out of COPYING dilip kumar and amitabh bachchan. Ditto for Ranveer. Im sure hes inspired by many, but he outright COPIES srk. Its plain as day. I like ranveer alot as well. In my eyes, hes the best amongst the young lot yet he doesnt hold a candle to srk. sorry :)

Good convo, and Ranveer is clearly a sweetheart. I hope there'll be more info later on Bajirao characterisation, what Ranveer understands of Bajirao's worldview, and how he approached a historical warrior and minister, one who married a Muslim princess even as he was leading battles against the Mughals, what his references were, what style of warfare was used etc etc. urghhh there is so little information and accountability to audience with this movie so far! The art looks great but i need the historical detailing to be believable!! Already grimaced at Deepika's warrior riding into battle with long open hair flying free! Is this movie for intelligent audiences or not?

Man this interviewer is good I think interviewers are always trying to get the interviewee to say what they want and always asking something controversial. Great interview, Anupama. As an English fan, it is hard to understand Hindi dialogues so THANK YOU for your English interviews that give a greater insight into an actor's personality. Please bring Ranveer Singh more and ask about the candelabra scene with PC (Kashibai) in Bajirao.. I think when his tears dropped on his cheek whilst extinguishing the candles is when Sanjai L B said Ranveer could be Daniel Day-Lewis. Watch the scene and ask Ranveer about the process. By the way, I think Ranveer Singh ruled Bajirao with his acting. Also, sadly, his scenes with DP did not create magic. Ranveer scenes with PC did- they were show-stealers!

That was an enjoyable and a fun interview. :) Its refreshing to watch younger actors experiment with looks for their roles. E.g:- Ranveer in Bajirao Mastani or Sidharth in Brothers. Versatility always takes precedence. And I think that's what nowadays audience also looks forward to. Films like Bajirao, Brothers, NH10 kind of push the envelope in the mainstream cinema.
