I was born in 82, when this was on I was 12-13 years old. I used to look forward to turning rap city on right when I got home from school. I remember them playing underground artists but WOW. The underground artist actually consist of 75% of the videos they played. This made an impact on me that I’m now realizing. I’ve been chasing underground music my whole life since. I wish they still did this

That was the beauty of being in your 20's in the 1990's decade, you was Old enough to get in the HIPHOP, REGGAE and RnB CLUBS , and really truly experience the FUN and Feeling of that Great 90's Music on the DANCE FLOOR amongst your Peers BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE

Thank you for this early '95 segment including the commercials. Early 95 still have remnants of 94, which I loved too. I literally feel like shedding tears from the nostalgia. 94-95 was my senior year in High School so I have a lot of this time frame engrained into my body.

I never heard of the Rotten Raskals before but I could tell by their sound they were from Jersey. Yes there was a guy with a Devils jersey in the video, but that wasn't what gave it away. It was the sound and the style. Back then every area had a style that you could pick out. Nice to know I didn't lose it

In NY it was rush home from school, burn something then watch Video Music Box at 4pm and Rapcity at 4:30 , flipping back and forth taping videos to VHS . I amassed 27 hours of rap videos like that, and still have ‘em. Interesting to see this being from BET on the west coast there’s a couple different videos in the rotation we didn’t see over here.

one of the "good problems" of 90's hip-hop is that there was almost too much good shit. so much good shit that tons of it just slipped through the cracks & went virtually unnoticed. i'll say this though, the "mediocre" hip-hop from that era absolutely destroys the biggest, most popular shit-pop-hop that currently pollutes ears.
