I'm surprised he didn't notice that in "Remember Me" Eminem says that he won't say "fucking" for 6 minutes, and in the whole next song he doesn't say "fucking" at all lol it's little consistency things like that that makes this album great.

My thoughts on the MMLP1 tracks that Rap Critic wasn't in to: Drug Ballad has a great beat and verses and is one of my favorites Amityville has a great beat and absolutely furious verses from Eminem but it could've done without Bizarre. Under the Influence has entertaining lines and a great beat, but the chorus could've been better. Bitch Please II should've been on 2001, but I still enjoyed it. Criminal was a great way to end the album and was absolutely hilarious. One of the most "holy crap, did he just say that?" songs that he's done Oh and I wish he mentioned "Marshall Mathers" because that song is great Awesome review overall though and I can't wait to check out MMLP2 for myself

Wow. Wasn't expecting that rating for MMLP2 and I'm shockingly surprised. This is a real as fuck review. MMLP is my favourite and I personally think it's Eminem's best and I was nervous with MMLP2 but he did a fucking FANTASTIC job. The parallels, tying of loose ends, LYRICISM, and new bars he set were just absolutely outstanding. As he said himself, he wasn't trying to create a "sequel" so to speak but more so a revisit of that mindstate but in modern times and he pulled that off phenomenally well. I for one am glad that a reviewer as brutally honest, hilariously critical and openly opinionated as yourself recognized the effort Eminem put into MMLP2 versus holding it to an unfair standard against its predecessor.

I thought I was insane for liking MMLP2 so much. I'm glad you gave your honest opinion and daring to say it was better than the first one. I can't verify this, but I think "Stronger Than I Was" was written about himself from Kim's POV. In that context I found an appreciation for the song. This whole album is a masterpiece.

Y'know. If Eminem hadn't came up in the 90s, and instead in the 2010's, I dunno if he'd get as much recognition, considering the SJW community that prevails social media. If he released The Marshall Mathers LP today, I feel like every song would be criticized harshly for not being politically correct. That's why I think it's important that he came up when he did. I hear his music as a kid, and I loved a lot of it. Stan was one song that haunted me because I had never heard a song tell such an encapsulating story such as that. Listening to Eminem didn't make me a violent person like the media thought he would, because he was being real all the time. The Real Slim Shady was a song that I had a guilty pleasure listening to. I had grown up with metal, metalcore, folk, 70's, 80's, & 90's rock & pop. Rap wasn't on my radar. The Real Slim Shady made me think, "Wow, there's something out there that's not only provocative, but dope as fuck" I had never heard any other hip hop, besides some shit like Fat Joe & Lil Wayne - Make It Rain. I liked MMLP2 and his thoughts are very well planned out with the songs on this record, but I feel like the nostalgia combined with the raw talent that was eminem on drugs, it made The MMLP what it was. Despite liking MMLP better than the sequel, I do feel that Eminem is an even better rapper & lyricist than he was back then. He overdosed, learned to write again, and became a real different kind of powerhouse rapper that no one can seem to match with, white, black, brown, middle eastern, w/e. He's just that good.

i think mmlp dropping out fresh in 2016 would not be recognized at all. nobody would get shocked or get angry about it. simply because we got internet and we see fucked up shit all day long. i mean. eminem raps about coughing out a lung. well after all the videos and fucked up shit i saw in the internet. i wouldn't be shocked seeing something like this. so we became immune to this stuff. i bet you could rap about raping a little kid (oh he already did it i forgot) and nobody would care.

+JACC not so. Em can still cause backlash to this day. look how people reacted to his Lana del Ray bars in his cypher when in reality he was pointing out how fucked up it was that nobody cared about Ray rice hitting his girlfriend / wife until the vid came out. not too mention the social media backlash he received after his track vegas and the iggy bars.

Sjw community? I mean I do agree With a lot of what you say but rap now a days isn't politically correct at all. Even with Eminem he had to censor his lyrics on the first LP and now a days rappers say whatever the hell they want and it's whatever. Not saying clever, but they don't say politically correct things. What artists do you think that community is pushing because I'd be interested on who you're thinking of

Groundhog Day was a perfect way of storytelling and lyricism. he went 2+ minutes with the same rhyme scheme and did a lot of progression (voice changes over time to represent maturity, metaphors became stronger, etc). Beautiful Pain is one of the few bonus tracks that got more plays than most of the regular tracks because more people can relate to it.

I enjoyed every single song on this album, even Stronger than I was, mainly because I can relate to the lyrics. I feel like most people don't really understand the song though. Anyway, Eminem is the greatest of all time, and that is a fact. There will never be anyone who can rap better than he can.

Stronger than I was, that song was a POV of Kim. He raps "cause u left and you took everything I had and left nothing , nothing for me". Eminem was the one who left her after they were married the second time in 2006. He talks about it in recovery on going through changes, fourth verse. He was rapping in Kim's POV of what had happened

Although I agree with a lot of the things you said and do absolutely love MMLP2, I can’t give it a higher rating than MMLP1 because the best songs on 1 are so amazing and (IMO) so much better than the best songs on 2. On top of that, Dr. Dre’s beats on MMLP1 are classics and I’d much rather hear those than the beats on MMLP2, not that those are bad they’re just nowhere near as good.

I don't know why I'm posting this, I know that nobody cares, but I'm going to anyway, probably just for me. Eminem got me into rap. My family hates that genre of music, so I didn't have any exposure to it, really, until Monster came on the radio, and I thought it was just okay, but then I heard Rap God, and it just exploded from there. Now I'm a huge rap fan, but I'm inclined to agree with what was said about Em. The MMLP2 was arguably the best album I've ever listened to. If this album didn't come to be, I would have never come to a point in my life where I listen to rap on purpose. And I don't really know where I'd be if that was the case.

Amityville 3rd verse is just... so fucking good. "we dont do drive bys we park in front of houses and shoot and when the police come we fucking shoot it out with em too!" so gold man. mmlp 1 is better then 2 because its more uncontrolled, way more artistic and feels much less shoved down ur throat, love both though!

Stronger Than I Was was just EMINEN singing for 2/3 of the song and it was meant as a joke, then he actually raps the last verse.
@knobuddy5302
@knobuddy5302 8 жыл бұрын
Stronger Than I Was is a joke meant to make fun of the idea that he went Pop and actually about three quarters of the way through the song he does start rapping. So Far... was awesome with the generous Life's Been Good sample from Joe Walsh. EMINEM and Kendrick Lamar just feed so well off of each other's energy on a record and and really need to work together again. I thought Headlights was an amazing track for how experimental it is for him. Proof's wish was for EMINEM to squash all of his beefs and the only one left was with his mom and Headlights kind of took care of that.

@knobuddy5302
@knobuddy5302 7 жыл бұрын
He said "It was November 31st today, it would have been our anniversary two years, but you left on the first of May." The idea is that since she left his life basically stopped without her and he is hanging on to the last good day he had with her before she left. EMINEM really thinks his lyrics out. He did have a lot of lyrics that didn't really make sense during the part of his career when he was on drugs which is how we got things like ENCORE and FACK.

Rap critic you are the shit, I've watched every one of your videos and this I would say is one of your most accurate via opinion.
