Best tour of Rapa Nui I have ever seen online, including many sites I have not seen on any other video or documentary, all covered in your wonderful high definition photography. Thanks. A very mysterious place with many very ancient secrets. Incredible the resources that went into the production of all these volcanic statues.

Thank you Milosh! Greatly enjoyed this one! I like how you incorporated some of the local music into your soundtrack. So, now, you've done the 3 places that define the Polynesian Triangle: Aotearoa, Hawaii, Rapa Nui. I hope you'll find the time to make more trips out here, and delve further into Polynesia. You can visit Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti, Marquesas, etc. And you still have more to see in Hawaii . . . 😁

I LOVE this video! The music and compilation are wonderful. I was there seven years ago and did basically the same tour you did and the one thing I wanted to see all my life was Easter Island and the ahu Tonga Rikki. That was the most exciting and fulfilling part of the entire trip for me. Also, I am wondering if you saw the rocks behind the ahu that looked like alien skulls. I remember seeing them pretty much everywhere. Easter Island is truly one of a kind. Amazing!

Great and comprehensive views of this mystical place! I've always wondered if the area was (still) sacred to indigenous people there and how they deal with tourists etc.
@gregcarter86566 ай бұрын
Britannica's article indicates that the aboriginals worshipped their statutes for centuries, but later had a civil war resulting in the renouncement of statue worship. Even later, they adopted Christian worship. Thanks to help from Chile, and money from tourism, the islanders doubled their population in only 15 years (2002--2017). It was similar in Hawaii: natives destroyed their religion, later became Christians, now have $15 billion trust (Kamehameha).
@gabriellen.28866 ай бұрын
@@gregcarter8656 Yes, thanks Mr. Carter; that does sound like the march of time (and the march of other things) causing great change, for good or ill. I watched with interest as the old fellow in this video entered crevices and caverns, handling bones and seeming to quite wistfully sing to the spirits there. A cameraman was with him, though, so I can't vouch for this...
@gregcarter86566 ай бұрын
@@gabriellen.2886 Yes, it's a "mixed bag" (some good, some bad) both ways in time (past, future). Less pollution and not as crowded in the distant past, but no modern comforts and conveniences. Like you, I recall the man handling bones. Don't know if they were human bones, but if so, that would be hugely inappropriate and insulting in the ancient Hawaiian culture. Maybe Rapa Nui culture is different on that point.
