With Future & Metro Boomin releasing their album ‘We Don’t Trust You’ being what started the entire 20v1 rap battle between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, Metro Boomin, Childish Gambino, Playboi Carti, Lil Yachty (maybe), Travis Scott (maybe), The Weeknd, Rick Ross, and more - which ended in Kendrick dropping his #1 hit record that was also a diss song with ‘Not Like Us’ - the entire world was listening to a song clowning Drake. Kendrick did the unthinkable afterwards, surprise dropping his album ‘GNX’ - announcing ‘The Grand National Tour’ with SZA, and giving us the music video to his now #1 billboard hot 100 hit song ‘squabble up’. Now, the year is done and in 2025, one of Drake’s biggest defendants - DJ Akademiks is facing backlash. After a weird exchange in a Discord chat, an odd issue with Drake and LeBron James and Chris Blake Griffith, and a slew of beef with rappers in the past like Meek Mill, Nav, Lil Baby, and more - DJ Akademiks is now in a very weird position, Drake is also in an even weirder position because Kendrick is about to go on a crazy promotional run of Not Like Us, even though Drake is suing over the song. He will perform at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans, and the song itself is heavily nominated at the Grammy Awards. Billboard along with other publications predict 'Not Like Us' stands a strong chance at winning either Record of the Year or Song of the Year - which would make it one of the first rap / hip-hop song to win in these main Grammy categories, and definitely the first diss track to win. I think the Grammy's are the most exciting they've ever been for me, because I'm a Huge Kendrick fan and I became a fan after Not Like Us dropped. It was my introduction to true hip-hop since all I've ever heard before was Drake in middle school (which I didn't like) but also as a lesbian it's so exciting to see a lesbian might be nominated for a song about the lesbian experience is also so so exciting!!!
