@ By rules Refs are told not to check VAR unless after penalty shout there is no obvious threat to any team. If Barca didn't made the counter and thought to contain possession then Ref can check it. It's same as the offside, unless play is over u can't raise the flag for off side with new rules. If Ref checks afterwards and gives a penalty ruling the goal then still it's okay as a Barca fan.
