Hunt has had a free pass but reality and facts mean he was the architect of the pandemic failure. The longest serving minister of health in history and presided over the pandemic plan and pandemic testing and failed to carry out the recommendations from the report. Any remainer could get lost. Now Lord Frost would be ideal

A lot of Councillors are already campaigning for reelection in May's local elections. A lot of them will lose their seats this year because of Boris. Don't underestimate how much that will lead to angry feedback to MPs.

The "party within a party" ERG would not warm to the notion of Jeremy Hunt and would undoubtedly cause him trouble if successful. As a vocal Remainer, he would not go down well with the Red Wall either.
