One consideration is avoiding shit made in China. Not always possible but when I can I boycott Chinese products.
@Thestripper13 жыл бұрын
1:36 The problem with these kinds of tests is that you don't get an idea of the lifespan of the machines or how well they perform after a year of heavy use. This could very well be where the price difference lies..
@DavidB-tj3rj4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review, just purchased the baby brother (GET65-5n). Hope it performs as well. I plan on using this for initial flattening 100-180grit and then switch to my finish palm sander. I was spending my too much of my life trying to remove milling marks with the belt sander and then removing the belt sander scratches with a finish sander. This looks like a much better way.

When talking about price, one thing to consider is where the product is made/labor costs. If I can avoid tools made in China I do so.

First festo rotex dual mode was in 1979 patented . So after that they only improved it. They didn't try to compete with bosch, until patend ended, then rest of the companies made similar sanders. Same goes with the pad holes and dust extraction system. It was first in 1930 at disc sander. They are small company but pioneers on many things

Not totally true but to each their own. At the end of the day, the Bosch is a better sander for almost $350 less based on pricing today. A no brainer.

@@TexasUrbanSawmillLLC yeah, no brainer for a year warranty and an inferior built product. One can go to Bosch's websites and read the reviews. Hey thanks for this review! I just purchased the Bosch GET75-6N! I have 23 heart-pine doors to strip and refinish! I’m impressed with its performance so far. Question what sanding discs did you use? I purchased the festool net disc and a pad because the tool shop I purchased my Bosch sander at said they didn’t have sanding discs that fit the Bosch sander. I’m wondering if the festool paper discs fit the Bosch sander? I’m thinking if they do I would get longer use out of the paper disc than the net ones. My bosh owners manual said this sander has a universal pad but I can’t find anything online stating what disc are compatible. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
@TexasUrbanSawmillLLC4 жыл бұрын
What is great is that bosch designed the sander to work with a variety of discs. We use Mirka Gold and Mirka Abranet pads. But for stripping? I would go for Rhynogrip pads. The best pad for maximum dust collection is certainly Abranet but they are more costly. We save these pads for our final finish passes....typically on our fine finish Sanders.

What vacuum do you use for the Bosch and does it matter as far as keeping your area clean?
@ThekiBoran3 жыл бұрын
My opinion is it doesn't matter. One advantage of Festool vacuums is the suction is adjustable but I just leave mine on high suction all the time, usually. Regardless of vacuum brand having a dust separator is super nice, whether an inexpensive Home Depot one or an Oneida Dust Deputy. I've had my festool CT36 for about 5 years. The Oneida dust deputy has been on it since say one. The only dust in the vacuum bag, in 5 years, is from when I did a sanding job without the dust deputy. It's that good.

@okafka54464 жыл бұрын
Great review, thanks. Who would have thought the Rotex beaten on dust collection AND! stock removal by the Bosch, you know it being Festool and all. Also in the UK at least Bosch offers an extended warranty which takes it to 3 Years. Do you know if you can get pad protectors for the Bosch? to save the pads when using Abranet. Lastly when doing the final test, you had the sanders on turbo (Bosch) coarse (Festool)?

@@TexasUrbanSawmillLLC It seems like a lot of the conplaints on the Bosch sanders are that people are destroying the backing pads - I think this has a lot to do with people unintentionally being a lot more careful with their Festools as they're so much more expensive - and a side effect of storing them in the cases is the pads aren't getting tossed around with other tools. I have an RO 125 from Festool and I absolutely love it.
