I met Maria Brink of In This Moment when the band went on their first tour for their debut album 'Beautiful tragedy' in 2007... they were the first band on the bill and only did 25 minutes. Maria wore this cute schoolgirl outfit and after their set, she spent the ENTIRE night on the floor talking to the fans in the club, signing merch if they asked... I was really impressed. So, I introduced myself and she was this tiny blonde woman ... and I think she was intimidated by me when I offered to shake my hand; she was soft-spoken and just gave my hand a light shake. But I told her that I was impressed by the show and I told her I would buy their CD. Later that night, I went to their merch table and she and guitarist Chris Howorth were still meeting fans and signing merch. I bought the CD and Maria (and Chris) signed it and she seemed shy but more at ease... I wished them good luck on tour and hoped that they would make it on the long run and they seemed thankful. I bought every In This Moment album that came out... and got to see In This Moment in 2016 on the big stage opening for KoRn and Rob Zombie in front of 12K people...

Saw them at Music as a Weapon tour. Korn, Disturbed, 7dust. She was the most kind hearted and humble person. Got pictures autographs and a kiss on the cheek.

Maria is straight up badass metal...no equivocation. My first exposure to In This Moment was her collab with Rob Halford on "Black Wedding" I was totally BLOWN AWAY!!!

For me, this song is about her realizing she is the one with all the power in this exchange. He wants her...needs her, whether for art or sex, and he hates that she has that control over him. Hates her and loves her all at the same time. Lots of folks will vilify and blame sex workers for a litany of things, but at the end of the day they all come crawling back with their coin. IMHO this could absolutely be about the recording industry as well. (FYI- Totally pro sex-work. As long as all parties are consenting adults then rock on!

Her name is Maria brink. Band started out as metalcore, but switched to this style with the 4th album. The guy in the video with her, is Chris Motionless, lead vocalist for Motionless In White. Their 8th album ,Godmode, was just released in October. Check out the video for "The Purge" from that record.

The singer Maria was born in Schenectady, New York, which is my neck of the woods. Tri city in upstate NY include Albany, Schenectady and Troy. I was born and raised in and around Albany!! 😊

In This Moment is one of the best metal bands out there! Maria is such a badass vocalist, their songs are so energetic, btw if u wanna a crazy Metalcore enegeric song and rly headbanger, here: MIND by system of a down, this sounds more metalcore than Nu Metal and is so amazing, heavy riffs and Serj being a Monster on the vocals, do the lyrics coz they're a lil creepy

Love this song! Also, Chris Motionless was a perfect choice for the music video. Travis Johnson, current bassist in the band (the masked one) always struck me as a nice guy - he's my favorite. About a week ago, the band announced a fundraiser on "gofundme", related to the fact, that Travis' wife, Michelle is terminally ill😢 Stay strong, Travis! Never thought of the music industry part, but that would be like Heart "Barracuda". I've always heard this song as coming from the holier than thou religious aspect, and also from a junior high/high school perspective of how guys look at girls and women. You know, the whole sweet talking you to get you into bed, but the whiplash reaction of calling you a whore afterwards. Thinking that you're now dirty, but they created the dirt by putting the pressure on you in the first place, but refusing to see that they are the dirt that has stained you. Amazing lyrics! You should definitely check out their early stuff because their sound definitely changed over time. I'd recommend "Beautiful Tragedy" (the title track off of their debut album) or "Forever" off of their second album "The Dream".
