Muse are absolutely HUGE worldwide - maybe not quite so in North America, but throughout Europe, especially the UK where they're from, they sell out massive stadiums! And they do so here too! Their North American tours are pretty broad and include many dates. This song was perfectly designed for an orchestra. The studio version does have horns, and most likely synth violins, but here they're using the real thing - perfection!! As one who has played in concert & jazz bands, you don't 'need' a conductor, but he/she completely dictates the tempo of a song - they're basically there to make sure everyone is in sync. In typical 'bands', the conductor is the drummer and possibly the bassist - the rhythm section. They have complete control over the song - if they go off, the rest of the band goes off. I've noticed that you still haven't done Hysteria yet! If you want to hear a ridiculous bass line, this is your next Muse track! Great reaction guys!

I can agree with everyone in the comments that this song was composed for a James Bond movie called Skyfall. The drummer went to the producers of Skyfall and said here is a song for this movie. But they denied that song. And gave it to Adele. This song would have been awesome for the movie. Maybe one day the James Bond franchise will have Muse as one of the soundtracks.

Smokey is spot on. A conductor is the same thing as an airpilot. The plane flies itself on autopilot but the conductor still has to take it off and land it on its on and thats what a conductor does. He speeds and slows the orchestra. There are SO LANY minor tempo and dynamic changes within orchestral music that you hear but dont realize is controlled by the conductor. He controls volume of orchestral sections that may be playing competing parts. He also gives cues to players that have only small but important parts. An orchestral player is not going to follow along to sheet music that doesnt exist for them because the only sheet music in front of a player IS THEIR OWN INSTRUMENT, meaning it is impossible to follow ANYTHING besides your own notes. You’re gonna need to swallow the fat L on this one Hollywood.

A conductor is necessary to keep time and volume. Even when people know a piece, some may unintentionally speed up or slow down or not be at the right volume with the rest of the Orchestra. It just allows one person to interpret how a piece is played and the band follows that person’s interpretation. I swear if they ever change the name of “The Volunteers” …😂🤣🙄😵💫🤐

I agree words specifically created to be derogatory are wrong. Words that people later corrupt to become derogatory are not. I think I said in the comments on one of your previous vids, when someone takes offence to your usage of the word, “the” then we know we’ve f’d up as a species and should probably have our keys taken away as we can’t be trusted to look after ourselves.
