Peso Pluma in Spanish refers to the sport of boxing Featherweight class. I dont follow this genre of music but since the artist is of Mexican decent and Mexico is famous for having some of the best boxers in the world, the name might be a reference to that. Oh yeah, just to give you a little brief history on this kind of music this type of music is called banda. Back in the day the OG bands that inspired him were known to perform for cartels. This is as notorious as rap was in the beginning because it essentially was like rap, talking about drugs and what not, though its approach was different, in its roots it was story telling and typically the stories were based off of things they would hear when they would do private concerts. Some of the OG banda groups were so good at their story telling they’d either get shot or band by the government because well, it it exposed the corruption of government both in mexico and in the states. PP doesn’t follow that story telling concept anymore, just like modern rap, the lyricismhas changed a lot, nevertheless, he still has some really good music.
