El-P is from NYC. He started in the group “Company Flow.” They were killers back in the day. Y’all should definitely check out the album “Funcrusher Plus.” One of the best to come from Rawkus Records. He also started Def Jux records, which featured Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, Mr. Lif, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Murs, Hangar 18, and a lot of other great artists. El-P (El Producto) is also a producer, and produced all of the RTJ songs. As well as a lot of other tracks.

I ain’t know where El P was from either so I had to look it up, he’s from New York. Dude is an elite producer. One of those guys like DJ Quik. Puts out elite music but doesn’t get elite respect. Yeah Killer Mike I see him as someone that speaks on social issues and That can be political but doesn’t have to be. I also saw him as an independent like me. I don’t think he’s ever claimed a political party.

Gotta love RTJ guys. So good. I've been a fan of EL-P's stuff since I first heard him on Techno Animal's "Brotherhood of the Bomb" album way back in 2001. He did a track on that album with Vast Aire called "We Can Build You". Well worth checking out if you haven't heard it already. Absolute beast of a track! Then I started to picked up his solo albums after that like "Fantastic Damage", "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" and "Cancer 4 Cure". So good. He's just recently done a new track with Crosses, which is one of Chino from Deftones other projects.

EL-P is from New York. He's a legend in hip-hop. A producer of Legends as well. The idea is that they're brothers from the North and the South. Check out Yankee And The Brave. All RTJ is fire. Can't go wrong with any of it. From The newest album, JU$T is a beat that will stick with you with some guest vocals. Every verse slays.

Pretty sure El P is from Brooklyn. I have visited Atlanta several times. I almost moved there in 2018 in fact. Had a job lined up with Georgia University to work in the library. My now ex moved there because his mom and aunt live in Conyers and he wanted to get his bachelor's degree in nursing there. So I thought we were moving there, not just him. We are native New Yorkers but my ex has lived in other states like California and Virginia and Georgia, so staying in New York was not his plan. Apparently neither was staying with me. But that's a whole nother story...lol...when we were together we visited his ma and aunt several times as we were together for 9 years. I really liked Atl but wasn't confident enough to move there and live alone without knowing anyone but my ex. So I remain in upstate New York....

You don't have to like one side over the other or either of them, but refusing to engage in the process because 'neither side appeals to you' is doing The Man's job of disenfranchising people for them.

Too many people conflate underground with underrated. RTJ is highly respected, El and Mike have been consistently releasing music for 25+ years and have always been part of conversations. Independent artists seldom make it to critical acclaim because the industry celebrates itself. To say that industry success is representative of the best artistry would be a claim only excusable by ignorance.

Like others have said, EL-P is a legend. He put out a seminal underground album with Company Flow in 97'. El and Mike meet through Adult Swim when El was doing music stingers for adult swim, and mike was around. Then El produced RAP Music for mike before RTJ started
