So glad you found So Hyang. Too many, many, she is considered the best female voice on earth. It is funny you picked a busking song for your first reaction (though it is current, for sure) as she has been on hundreds of grand stages in front of many thousands of people. She is the jewel of South Korea (and musically, the planet). I was lucky enough to find her a few years ago when I first listened to her version of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' (KBS TV) and nearly fell out of my chair. This song is tame compared to her explosion in that performance. She gives what the song needs. Her performance of Whitney's 'I Have Nothing' from the DMC Festival of 2015 is absolutely unparalleled, and is the best live version of that song done by anyone. She sings in Korean and English and many of her Korean songs are fantastic. I don't think we have anyone as good as her in the U.S. right now. Her live voice is astounding as you just heard. Excellent voice and she makes you feel the song. She is a top, top voice who also sings a lot of gospel. You should check out her versions of Bridge Over Troubled Water, Lean on Me, and I Have Nothing. And her song Airing Arang is wonderful and particularly her performance of the Korean gospel song Everyone makes me cry every time. She is a performer and professor of music who teaches folks and does her own epic arrangements. Also a cancer survivor who transmits her thoughts and feelings through the music and her stellar voice.

Check out her performance of lady gaga’s ‘I’ll never love again’ from the same series but in a different city. She did all this with minimal musical accompaniment, it’s what we call ‘busking’ here in the UK. This is a tiny fraction of what, imo, the best female singer in the world,is capable of. You should see her when she’s doing a performance with an orchestra. Her heart is in gospel music but she can literally sing any genre, rock, pop, classical, blues/jazz, obv the big power ballads, and believe it or not, this elegant lady can RAP!!

So glad you have discovered her finally. Many of the great Korean singers do busking in Europe. They used to do it under the name “ Begin Again” . Now it’s “ Moving Voices”. Sohyang has been singing for more than 15 years. Does a lot of R& B and gospel. David Foster and others have watched her stage performance. Sohyang has also toured US. She has exceptional technical skills and power. Her performance of “ Arirang” and “ Bridge over trouble waters” are my favorite. Check out some of her performances on the Immortal Songs show of KBS. My favorite boy group from Korea is “ Forestella”. favorite women’s group” Big Mama”. There are many great soloists. Immortal Songs on Korea Broadcasting Station ( KBS) is where I discovered most of them.
