The singer Ryan took over vocals for Drowning Pool after their singer passed away. Soil may have only had 1 big song with Halo but the whole Scars album is badass.

Ryan took over after Jason Jones left. Jason was the first vocalist after Dave died. Ryan left after two studio albums and Jasen Moreno took over. He did three albums and left right after the most recent album came out. Ryan has rejoined and taken back over lead vocals. They have a new single out.

Shaun Glass (guitarist), was literally my nextdoor neighbor. When we moved in Soil was in their El Chupacabra era I was 11, he was grown and in soil. He was my sole inspiration for getting into metal and eventually being in bands. I remember when Halo was blowing up (still before Scars, right after they were signed to J Records), his sweet old man and mom let me ride with them in a limo to the Metro in Chicago to VIP section to see them play. Great memories.

The guys in Soil started in a death metal bands Broken Hope and Oppressor so those guys can play anything so I highly doubt that they were an industry plant also they have released 6 albums as Soil

I bought this record when it came out and I thought it could have had 3-4 singles on it, it was pretty good overall. But yes, as others have said, the singer left to be the singer for Drowning Pool after Dave died

Another Nu Metal one hit wonder that basically no one remembers, since they were a little late to the party, is the band Borialis with Don’t Mean A Thing. The whole album is good and that song is catchy as hell for the genre / time period.

They aren't a 1 hit wonder. They have multiple albums and singles. Their lead singer is also lead for Drowning Pool. This was their biggest "radio" hit, but they have a following and they are still around playing shows.

They had a couple of hits such as Breaking Me Down, and Unreal and were set to become the next big thing in 2001 but the singer left the band shortly after their first major tour and he joined Drowning Pool. Kinda weird to jump ship right after making it big. This ultimately was a bad decision as both bands kinda fizzled out shortly afterwards. I’m pretty sure that Halo was a huge radio hit for the Metal genre as I remember a lot of people in my High School knew it.

Check out Unreal by Soil. It was the fallow up to Halo. It's off the same album but it's far less heavy. It's basically the forgotten hit. They actually have several albums but they never lived up to the hype Halo promises.
