SKZ bring such incredible energy that they got this great-grandmother (who uses a cane post covid) to get out of the house and go to their concert in August 2022, in Los Angeles I, who could barely handle doing my grocery shopping, stood in line for two hours to see them. My generation invented Rock and Roll and R&B. I've seen all the Greats: from Sinatra, Elvis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Aretha, Bob Dylan, the Motown greats like Smokey Robinsom, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley. My kids introduced me to Rap: Grand Master Flash,Rahim, Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy, NWA, Eminem, Tupac, Cypress Hill et Al. I just love music. In 2015, while channel surfing, I stumbled on Hobi from BTS free styling in his Hope on Street videos. Dance is my first love. I wanted more, and I found BTS. No one in America was making those melodies, harmonies beats, singing with such beautiful voices, writing those kinds of meaningful lyrics, dancing, and spitting those kinds of bars in such cinematic, artistic performances. You had it all: art,poetry, philosophy, culture, music, singing, and dance in one beautiful package. I fell in love with music all over again and fell into the BTS and Kpop Rabbit Hole. SKZ just have their own lane, and I fell in love with their aggressive energy, beats, rapping and also great vocals. Yes, more SKZ.

That’s a big thing with Stray Kids. Especially since they write and produce their own music, they love to play around with different genres. This song came after they debuted and it’s about breaking the mold. They wanted to come out the gate showing that they are not cookie cutter. In the MV they’re all in a facility much like The Island where everything is monitored and regimented but the inhabitants don’t seem to realize they are separated from the real world. And then they see signs of this monitoring with the drones and they plan a way to break out and break through the barriers keeping them trapped. At the end they finally get to be themselves and are in charge of their lives.

District 9 was their debut song, yes. And it made waves when it was released, with a number of media outlets calling it "the strongest K-pop debut in a while" and other similar accolades. With its heavy rap emphasis and in-your-face rock / EDM combination of sound, it basically kicked the industry in the pants. Straykids are in a class of their own they are highly experimental which hasn’t endeared them somewhat to SKorea but are very popular worldwide and in fact hold the record for debuting 5 consecutive Albums at no 1 on the Billboard 200 and l think in under 2 years They cover every genre you can think of except l don’t think they’ve gone country From their early days I love Easy and Chronosaurus and their Japanese releases which are heavily rock influenced but lately the OST’s they have done Come Play for Arcane and Fallen and Night for Tower of God even Slash they did for the Deadpool movie are so good it’s hard to pick favourites because for the most they produce no skip albums

That seems to be why original member Woojin left, stylistically he was into the direction Stray Kidz wanted to go. I think he’s more old school with a ballad voice and the rest of the boys wanted to play around with different sounds. No bad feelings other than shock at the suddenness of the decision. He was also the eldest which may have played a part. I do like how they switch genre mid song, write their songs and produce their own music. But they’ve been living it for years. Also there are two Aussies in the group.

It is the debut song. They have a pre debut mv Hellevator. 3racha (Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han) they write, produce, Compose, and arrange their own music.. It's not common in K-Pop for groups to control everything musically. Plus Bang Chan picked his members not the company
