Please check that out. It's a great moment in music history and American history. Megadeth has a wicked song protesting the PMRC. 'Hook in Mouth' off their (IMO) best album 'So far, So Good... This song came out in '83, the PMRC BS was in '86. The three 'rockers' that were called on to testify were Dee Snyder, Frank Zappa and John Denver (still trying to figure THAT one out...) The 'dad' in this video and the "I wanna Rock" video is Mark Metcalf, who played Douglas Neidermeyer in National Lampoon's Animal House. He plays the same character in these as well, in one of the video's the 'mom' character calls him Doug, as well as the quotes "you're worthless and weak" and "Whats do you want to do with your life?", etc...

Fun Fact: Dee Snider started writing this song in 1980, two years before Twisted Sister released their first album, Under the Blade. He had the hook, but couldn't come up with a verse melody. After Def Leppard released their Pyromania album in 1983, Snider came up with a plan. "In studying some of Mutt Lange's work with Def Leppard, I saw that a number of their songs were using variations on the chorus as a verse," he told us. "That gave me the information I needed to come up with the rest of 'We're Not Gonna Take It.'" - This Song was on the rhythm game Guitar Hero Warriors Of Rock.

Anthem of my generation right here, we want to make our own way, rather than live in another person's shadow. Authority of any kind was seen as something to rebel against, whether that be established bullshit laws, Authority figures trying to suppress our rights (How To Dress, How To Talk, ETC) or Parents wanting us to just smile and be their spitting images.

Fave aside is the dad is actor Mark Metcalf, Neidermeyer from Animal House. He was such a legendary douche in that movie it prob hurt his acting career! It was cool that they brought him back for this and he played it 100%! The other thing is when Dee testified they were all stuffed suits looking down on the "heavy metal guy" then Dee showed up and debated them into the ground. Totally underestimated him and he torched them. Gave the rock world a lot of respect at the time and egg on the censorship bitches faces. In hindsight without Dee, much rap and rock that followed never would have existed or would have been censored to shit. Like YT now, everyone afraid to curse, etc. ykwim
