When I was in high school, I played chess during lunch break with the kids in the chess club president's classroom. I don't think I've ever had more fun. All these rowdy, loud, immature kids coming together in a space where several games were going on at once, all so enthusiastic, looking forward to the next game. Years later, I played chess with my dad at home. I've never had time with him like that before and he hadn't played chess for decades at that point. Just two very different people having lived very different lives, who never understood one another...sitting in silence in a mental battle, duking it out on a Bombay set over wine.❤

Well done guys, at the end of the day, some of chess is about those qualities you highlighted but a lot of it is about pattern memorization so you can sort through the board's state. That takes some time studying or playing the game. As for the ADHD aspect, yes, turning on some music and focusing on the board usually gets me to a really pleasant flow state rather quickly and I find it quiets my mind.
