And I don't think it's at all a crime to look at someone to represent the kind of excellence that can come from your community, even if that means that people can get ahead of themselves sometimes. Yeah, you can say that you're just doing this in response to trolling and racism toward you, but these kinds of comments make enemies out of totally reasonable people. If you're wondering why some people would think a boxer's achievement would be a threat to their community's pride, this is partly why. From their perspective, it would look like that boxer's success is being actively weaponized by his fanbase to diminish their community.
