Here's what I found that might help if you're running the Windows version of Raptor: If you want to use the "S_HOST=CASTLE" cheat: 1.) Hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press the Pause/Break key 2.) Click the text link at the upper-left: "Advanced system settings" 3.) Click the Environment Variables button 4.) Click the New... button 5.) Set the Variable name to: S_HOST 6.) Set the Variable value to: CASTLE 7.) Click OK

Tristan Wassman , I had no idea that such a version existed. My guess is probably assuming that there isn't really any difference between the 2015 edition and the original windows edition.

Tristan Wassman , I don't know what the deal is but I've seen a lot of the older games, even DOS games, making it to Steam. I'm not a big fan of steam when it comes to newer games but I'll check this one out. Thanks.

@nefiurki -- DosBox is all you need. Raptor runs pretty fine in it. This game is probably the coolest of its type. What I really enjoy is the way you can destroy almost anything on the ground and leave ruins behind.

i also had the shareware version , i still remember playing this game when i was 9 , too bad i can´t play it anymore because of the operative system( windows 7). The music in this game especially the menu music is the best , very exciting and calm at the same time.

This so called "Battle Cow Mode" can be activated via two ways (working with the full version and the shareware version as well): Start the game on a birthday of a programmer (this is why they are singing the apogee theme) or press the keys "S" "1" and "3" in a row in the sector selection screen. But those enemys are very very hard to kill

when you press all of the switches like that there is extra stuff that appears in the level. sometimes it can be just a lizard, and other times it can be a huge cow shooting very deadly lazers at you.

You only have to press the switch, button one and the button three.. (also "S" "1" and "3" works...) this also happens when you start the game on a programers birthday... this "crazy cow" mode also works with the shareware version

If I recall correctly, the monkeys and cows appear due to the system date setting that gives you the hilariously different title screen theme, not so much the switches. I COULD be wrong, but I remember the enemies showing up without having to mess with the switches.

2nd: if you press the first and the thirt button and those red lights start to light up (when you can select the different sectors/regions), you get some monkey's (?) at the end of mission 1 throwing coconuts on your plane... just before the endboss of mission 1 appears.

The backspace cheat was taken out of the Windows version, but it uses the same pilot files as the DOS version, possibly the same savegame files. Sooo, hit the cheat in the DOS version, save then copy the files to the Windows version. I never hit backspace more than once when starting a new game.

I would just like to say that the only way to beat the Outer Regions in Raptor: Call of the shadow is to get a full complement of phase shields, daul lasers, and pulse wave. Nothing else is strong enough :P

And a pathetic life at that. He did it the right way if you want to activate -everything-. Yes its normally done on, off, on, blackout the button, but if you do that, you activate all the stuff including the lizards and Battlecows. Its just that now activates at random on all maps for as long as the game's running, instead of only the map you play next.

AAAAAAGGGGGH I want to play this game but I got Windows XP And I got this game When I got Duke Nukem 3D and Atomic But It won't work. It's mixed in with the SHARE folder in the cd drive. Can anyone help me?

Been a while since I played around with cd files but try gping through dos and typing the .exe file its listed as to load game otherwise GOG or Steam have it dirt cheap for full version. Duke Nukem 3D is an awesome game too!
