Only thing left to do is to retire that number 15 and place that statue in front of the arena. If Vince is to always be honored through the Raptors franchise, then honor him properly. Because what he did throughout his days in Toronto is bigger than basketball itself
@ryanwallace5535 ай бұрын
Air Canada, baby! I'd be willing to bet that he's the direct reason for why Canada has such talented players these days. He was an icon!
@bhill0055 ай бұрын
He is. All of the Canadian talent you see in the NBA today say they picked up a basketball because of Vince Carter
@timlabarda55353 ай бұрын
His name alone the reason basketball is a thing in canada ! It might not ended well for him as a raptor but jersey retirement and a statue would do good he has done enough for that country during his tenure there

Congrats to Vince; one of the best to do it! He helped to define the late 90's/ early 2000's NBA which is my favorite era. And he had a combination of fluidity, creativity, and power that made him the greatest dunker I've seen.

Respect... amazing that only 6 of his 22 years as a NBA player were spent in Toronto. Seems like a lot more given his impact in growing the sport of basketball Canada. First Raptors player in the HOF?
@ryanwallace5535 ай бұрын
No. But most important.
@justanobody05 ай бұрын
"first Raptors player in the HOF" I'm guessing Hakeem is there I'm guessing Chris Bosh is there and I think I heard he retired before Vince I'm guessing Chauncy Billups is there I'm guessing TMac is there and he retired before Vince Damon Stoudamire was the Raptors first star player and won ROY, dunno if he's in the HOF for as much as Charles Oakley is talked about and is respected, if he's not there it feels like people might argue for it Shawn Marion and Jermaine O'Neal were really good (I'm not familiar with the HOF and who decides what, Marion was one of the best SFs in the game for years, Jermaine O'Neal was a top big man)
@IceManLikeGervin5 ай бұрын
@@justanobody0 On the Raps pregame broadcast vs Washington they said he was the first player to go into the HOF as a Toronto Raptors player. Mentioned Hakeem, T Mac and Bosh but I'm guessing they didn't go into the HOF as Raptors players. Big up Vince- he has come full circle!

His story is as much about his longevity and his transition from superstar to reliable role player. There have been plenty of superstars who flamed out, and role players who only stuck around for 10-15 minutes per game. Very few did both.

The true fans of Toronto must tear down the Scotiabank Center if they do not retire no. 15 in their arena. No one and I mean absolutely no one is more deserving to have his jersey number retired in Toronto than Vince Carter. Still is the Raptor GOAT who put Toronto on the map and saved the franchise from moving down south. No. 1 Allstar vote getter from 2000-04 for five straight years. Greatest dunker to ever live. Super athletic and electrifyingly explosive in his hayday, was an offensive highlight reel night in, night out with his daily super dunks, alley-oops, 360 layups, and countless buzzer-beating game winners. Was super clutch and an offensive powerhouse who was underrated defensively. He was a top 5 player in the NBA during his time in Toronto, and was the single-handedly the most popular player on the planet in the early 2000's. Retire 15 NOW!!!!! VC = LEGEND AND H.O.F.

Congratulations Vince for your great career. Not to steal your thunder when is the hall of shame going to stop putting folks in the hall that have passed. Walter Davis goes in 6 months after his death. He should of been in years ago. Growing up in North Carolina Sweet D was Jordan before Jordan was Jordan. The dude was spectacular. Sorry Vince to steal your moment but I know you understand because of the rich UNC history that included the Greyhound Walter Davis.

Hall of Famer for sure but def not a first ballot. Greatest dunker of all time. He beat a banged up old Knicks team in 5 games in 2001 coming up short against Philly in the 2nd round. He never got the Raptors to the conference Finals. Moved to the Nets and had a good run there. Then he becomes a role player with Orlando, Phoenix, Dallas, Memphis, Sacramento, and Atlanta. His longevity is to be admired but he should’ve had more success than he did. Very good player. One of the most exciting NBA players of all time. Congrats

Vince asking to retire as a Raptor is like a wife beater asking to have "loving husband" on his tombstone. Vince doesn't deserve the honour. He gave up on us, tanked his value, told the other team our play, and had his mommy on tv to tell the mean fans not to be so mean to her poor son. That is Vince as a Raptor. Is he going g to brag about that? Because that is his legacy in Toronto. We gave him a max contract and he spit in our faces. He never accomplished more than he did in Toronto for the next decade and a half of his career. Now he wants to come back and be remembered for his first few years? No thanks. He made his bed. Retire as a Grizzly Vince. If his jersey hangs from our rafters, that will be a stain on the franchise.

I don't have a problem with the idea of Vince being in the HOF, and that he was an incredible player but even if his best years were with the Raps, I'd say let him be a HOFer for the Nets

What I will always remember is the first time I say a guy named Vince Carter mash smash and attack the rim in a ruthless fashion, when he soared over the opponent at the Olympics. I watched the slam dunk contest but the disrespect type get the f*ck out my way competitive nature Vince Carter exude was relentless champion quality. Much love always and forever, cause I know the gentleman that you are. Let's Go Raptors Let's Go!!!
