The look on Del's face when the penny finally dropped was classic

What some people don't see in this clip is the realism of this situation. It is done with such proffessionism that you would swear blind that she was actually telling Sir David that she was pregnant and not acting. Even to the point where she closes her eyes in anticipation of what Del's reaction may be, it is so very real and so convincing. Also lets not forget that moment when Del thinks he say's something funny , then realises he has hurt her with that comment so he quietly chastises himself and then tries to redeem himself. It to me has got to be some of the best acting in TV history and that clip alone should never ever be overlooked.

Yes, the acting is brilliant. But also John Sullivan's character development was so good as the series wore on. In that clip, you can see how pleased Rodney is for his brother, but then in later episodes the dread kicks in at what Del's offspring might turn out as! Great acting, great writing.

Great scene. You can see how much Raquel's pregnancy meant to Del. He was going to be a good father to Damien - unlike Reg, who left the Trotters and tried to come back years later, only to show he hadn't changed at all.

The trotters flat must of been massive, they each had their own room and a baby on the way. More like a mansion than a tower block flat lol

The flat has three rooms- one for Del and Raquel, one for Albert (previously Granddad's) and one for Rodney (which becomes Damien's nursery). When Albert dies and the Trotters move back in, Rodney and Cassandra take Albert's room. As Del says, it was 'designed to be overcrowded'

To think that Raquel would have nowhere to go if he dumped her because she was pregnant. She was so scared of his reaction. She didn't speak to her parents and she had no place to live and her ex was crazy and abusive. Del hasn't always been the best guy but he loves his family and this might be his only time to raise a child. He was so happy and this scene is beautiful

Ofah was undoubtedly one of the best comedy series ever but i feel that it went on too long. The truly best ones had much fewer series and episodes. Fawlty towers, porridge, blackadder ,the office etc

Well, I'm not sure if Raquel means it as in angry at the situation or as in angry at her. Because they haven't exactly been trying for a baby, they just had unprotected yaknow, so he could be mad that now he has so many more responsibilities. And no a medical abortion was not available at that point I'm pretty sure. But, and this is I think the more realistic explanation, Raquel's previous partner, Slater, was abusive, and probably would blame her for stuff she couldn't control. For example I believe that if Raquel did get pregnant with Roy, he would probably get angry and blame her. So she probably just developed it as a trauma response. And that is why I think that line is so underrated in this scene, because it so beautifully and seemlessly brings out such an important part of Raquels character.

David was born in 1945 while she was born in 1957 1945 1946 1947 1948 1949 1950 1951 1952 1953 1954 1956 1957 which would make David (del boy) only eleven years older than her and yes it is quite a few years gap between them.and it’s not like their together in this

It brought up several times in the show that Del is about 10 years older than Raquel. These kind of age gaps aren't uncommon for people who met in middle age. Also Raquel was married to Roy Slater who is the same age as Del, so maybe she has a thing for older men.

So many times she overacts to the point you don't really understand why she is doing it, like the scene where they have dinner with her parents in the flat and she has that permanent concerned face and speech for no reason. Everytime she talks its like the script is right in front of her.

I always thought when they introduced Cassandra and Raquel the issues become more serious and less amusing. For me both characters were both strict wives and injected no extra humour and instead had to react to their partners crazy antics like a grown-up would. So yeah, I would have preferred if they weren't permanent characters. Marlene was a great character and actress and a perfect OFAH wife though. 😆
