I did everything he said in the video and i went from 2.40 MB (2,525,724 bytes) to 2.21 MB (2,328,168 bytes). Is there a better way to compress files?

Can you use this method to compress exam past papers? In order to reduce the number of pages?

Not really, thats a different thing. compression can't reduce the number of pages, but it can reduce the file size while keeping the pages constant. To reduce pages, you might need to use a word processor, reduce font size and change the formatting, etc
