I am in this video and I can't bring myself to watch it, because I always cringe just thinking back to what I said.

dude thats awesome you were there. do you guys still get much music out that way? i drove to canada in 1999 and i couldnt even find it on the channels i was like wtf its more popular in america then there it seemed like haha. can you tell me more about the event?
@hippa2dahoppa27 жыл бұрын
was that you in the blonde hair and glasses? it wasnt a bad response at all

Haha, yeah that was me :) I actually forced my myself to watch myself in this, as my 1000 subscriber milestone video on my own channel. So wait, you saw this on american TV? I used to do co-op (like an intern) at the largest music store in Toronto (HMV at 333 Yonge Street,) and Manson was there that day for an album release; I got his autograph. Then afterwards he was at MuchMusic doing this-- I just went after work and got to be in the audience, by luck I guess! I know a lot of the kids you see in this video-- we were all goth club kids (though more so in/around 1995.) I moved away from Toronto many years ago and haven't owned a TV for at least 10 years. MuchMusic really turned into garbage, much like MTV down there.

wow dude thanks for the story thats awesome. yup im in ohio so we got much music for a while in the 90s and then as far as i know i think it just disappeared and myabe only lasted like 3 years or so? but i could be wrong. i really liked it alot because they were playing choclair alot, essex court with quiz, and swollen members. if it wasnt for much music i wouldnt of known any of those bands. also saw the famous tupac interview on much music back then also when he was talking about death row east. all my manson uploads are straight off my vcr when i recorded them in the 90s and not stolen from any other channel except the newest zim zum video i put up from a documentary that i edited. a little side note, i actually talked to floria the tourniquet prodcuer and beautiful people she was there with you guys that day in the crowd and showed her some of the videos i had and her intern relayed a message to me thanking me for showing her it and that she never saw it before so that was awesome. crazy shit isnt it being able to talk to someone you saw on tv 20 years ago? who the fuck would of thought this would of ever happened haha. and your spot on about mtv, nobody watches that shit anymore. i think my 70 year old mom watches it for its reality shows lol

I really kind of miss this time in pop culture. A time when a rock star could genuinely shake things up and divide a nation. That could never happen today. Reality TV and the internet has made pop culture so utterly diluted and accessible that all the mystery and passion seems to have flat-lined. Don't get me wrong...there's LOTS of amazing bands out now. I think Animal Collective is one of the most creative bands of this era. But, the days of a band truly captivating a nation...are over. Sadly.

Contemplating on taking that as challenge. You are absolutely correct! It is of course much truly needed to have 80,000 seat stadiums full to capacity of 100,000 tripped out dosed screaming young old people of the trashy sort Rockin as if the world hasn’t moved on . I really don’t give a flying taco creamy crap about all this shit anymore. My inner voice just want to rock the fuck out while playing my guitar for who ever enjoys it besides myself

I think the bottom line of this conversation is that Marilyn is so much smarter than most of the folks he is talking to. They are doing and saying exactly what he sings about..

"Should I blame Hootie & the Blowfish for making my life completely boring?" lol...what a response. Hootie & the BF's 'cracked rear view' album was the very first album I ever bought. Pretty sad, isn't it? He's right though. That Hootie album was the catchy "in" thing at the time. But the day I discovered Manson, via the Dope Show video on TRL in '98, I was in awe. I was repelled and magnetized all at once...and from then on, my relationship to creativity and music became much more interesting.

i've remembered 12:28 since this was on where on the hot mic Brian sez something like "I really got him with that Hootie and the Blowfish, didn't I?" I always loved that, so hilarious how dumb tv presenters are when engaged with actual artists. For context watch from 09:00
