Perfect example of no hard shoulder causing the problem, before smart motorways the emergency services ran the hard shoulder to get to incidents. The delay shown here is unacceptable

On the M8, the hard shoulder is used as an additional lane during peak times to reduce congestion.

@@pauleric8799 Even in ordinary circumstances you can't rely on drivers to abide by lane closures. It's unfortunate, but it shows there is no alternative for a hard shoulder. This road design is UNSUSTAINABLE.

Euan's Emergency Photography they were responding to an 11 car rtc that closed the road and there was 5 fire appliances and SORT unit and about 2 TRISS units or they were going to a 5 car RTC at Glasgow airport
