Sir with all due respect I highly recommend you wearing gloves anytime you are touching or handling these old books, the oils on the skin transfer to the items and it's just better for preservation

@@madameHeather_MoonFlow with all due respect the most current best practices on handling early paper goods is to not use gloves. When you wear gloves you loose the tactile dexterity and are more prone to damage pages, covers, etc. The oils in our hands are extremely minimal. If one were to constantly be pawing through a book, touching the same exact spot on a specific page, there might be some residue.
