I know I'm late to the party, but here I am! When we moved to North Carolina in the 1990s, our neighbor was a retired truck driver. He loved hit-and-miss engines. About 2 or 3 times a month, he would pull one out of his garage and run it. The only problem was it was when we were trying to get our 2-year-old down for a nap! We loved that old man. The stories I could tell you about him.

I want one! I design and build small compressed-air engines for a hobby. Been at it 50 years this year.

Gotta preface this with I don't know anything about old engines and how they work. But, when Jay Leno hand cranks his old cars he tucks his thumb in a certain way so it doesn't get broken if there is kickback or something. You guys might want to look this up? IDK

yes and no. with the way the crank is made on these engines it cant really cause the same problems as one for a car. it is good practice on tractors and cars though!
