We have a home in California & a home in France that we’ve been working on. It’s been impossible to get help for our projects and we’ve been doing all the work ourselves. I was unsure of the antler wall lights but they are gorgeous. 🌴🌴🌴🌴 Hello Denise, I'm your friend from the Isle of Capri,,,, It is been my experience when using gold paint that you have to put a clear sealer over it or it will tarnish and darken over time. You can buy clear sealer in spray cans. You're doing a marvelous job so the next time we come to France we'd love to come meet you and marvel at your chateau. God bless you! 👍🐸👍 PS: Please make sure that all of the seams to your lamp shades face toward the back of your new light fixtures so they don't show!

Yeah for the Umbrella pads! They are now bump resistant and wind resistant. Spray the Umbrella's with Tent Protectant Spray, it protects them from sun and water damage. I sprayed my Navy Blue Curtains with furniture UV protectant spray and they have held their colour for 5 years, no fading. The curtains get full sun from sunrise to noon. Your dogs seem happy to be there now, settling in to the Chateau grounds. Getting used to all the smells of France Brett still looks a little shocked lol

The trades are hard to find in America too. We’re about to have a major skills gap bc going to college became pretty much a mandate for so many years, there aren’t enough young generations trained to replace those who’re retiring. Now, the trades are better salaried then a lot of college degrees. I thought all the light fixtures were lovely too.

Your attic is a treasure trove. Nice finds up there, and great that you have an electrician on hand who can rewire and make the chandeliers and sconces useable again. Concentrating on painting the details on the ceiling rosette and the wall sconces must be a nice change for you. Some slow detail work after all the rough and ready cleaning, sanding and painting. It‘s good to have a bit of balance in your workload, I imagine.

Needs things on the wall. Big rooms with a lot of furniture can look like it’s all slipped down with nothing up top. It’s about balance also a darker paint will help with that. Sorry but side tables don’t work. Perhaps a quick tip may be to get a couple of chipboard circular table with a cloth over in a colour to match with glass top to protect. I understand you have lots of furniture but it’s not working and costing to much time being wasted when time is more important just now.
