Ah my! 1970 it was when we moved to ballymun. God help us all. Heartbreakingly nostalgic seeing this. Sur weren't we all just babies and our parents trying to do the best they could. Kindest thoughts to all my fellow ballymunners

Agree very nostalgic and emotional, living in the Mun since 75 and still here. Heartbreaking what's become of our community, the demolition of the shopping centre feels like the final nail in the coffin. Still lot's of good people here though.

Decent people in Ballymun i met a lot of friends to Male & female..i remember going to babysit for my x girlfriend sister there sure it was 'Thomas Mc Donagh tower' ..I'm sure? a girl from Glasnevin, lovely time good memories...even as far as watching Leeds play in final in 70tees with my father & brother etc..in other taller tower looking down at roundabout junction...and seeing thousands of 'Skin Head's' it was like a dream looking at them from my father's friend balcony. Ballymun & the people decent folk and pity it went downhill...due to lack of supervision & government's in power then..."Ballymun" will always be a special memory for me growing up and i was a Southsider. Remember yoůr address is nothing, its the person u see at first glimpse in interview, or on a date is the person who is proud to live in Ballymuñ. Lovely memories... Excellent 🙂

I was born in 399 silouge Rd in Jan 76,my mother and father brought us to Tallaght, but I left there my girlfriend at the time lost a little girl Kerri my father lived in Pearse Tower number 19 3rd floor I lived in the tower with him,I always remembered when it snowed because at 2 or 3 in the morning I word hear a skid and bang it would hit the bars on the roundabout some cars went over,I was happy there when we moved out my father's health went down hill,he died of a massive heart attack. My son Liam Michael Myler was born in Ballbuchter Rd 106 he was born in to palliative care he looked fine but St Francis hospise came out every few days to leave Morphine and Madazalam he lived in Ballbuchter for 4 and half mths and died in his mother's arms.loved this video I know the flats are gone but I'm proud I was born and my son was born in Ballymun flats I'm so proud to be from Ballymun, very decent people thanks for the memories Ballymun and the mother stairwell will live forever in my heart 💜💔

Wow Regina, I lived in 400 Sillogue Road from 1968 to 1979. So that means we were next door to each other on the 6th floor. Amazing. I too miss Ballymun.

Concrete jungle ?... Its more of a concrete jungle now than it was beck in the 60,s and 70,s !......Those lovely big square fields have all been built over and they only just managed to save Santry woods by the skin of their teeth ! ..

Thats right, Santry woods was really beautifull in the 60's & 70,s but it must have been really amazing in the 40,s & 50,s when the abanoned mansion house was still there.

It must have been hard to have any self respect living in those flats, what with this being such a snob filled country and all. Just giving your address at a job interview would lessen your chances.

Jack Silver a different world - to be honest if you asked any single person how it was living INSIDE a flat , I'd be surprised if they said it was ever difficult . Great views we had , out to sea one side and Dublin mountains on the other

I live across the fields in Shanliss way. we had a great view of the Ballymun skyline - it looked like New York with all the lights at night time. One night I waved over when I saw someone walking around in ine of those flats and they waved back too !
