Rare Bear goes sloping

This is a video of the micro XK Rare Bear slope soaring at Los Banos Creek Reservoir in California. The model has a 380mm (15-inch) wingspan and is flown totally stock, only with propeller/spinner and landing gear removed for reduced drag. Surprising how well this little foam plane flies on the slope as a glider.

That really is quality flying! We enjoy our little toys in our second childhood but never aspire to join Sully in the co-pilot's seat! 😜😁 A joy to watch though. 🙂

I have one really close to that, however, mine did not come with landing gear. It might be even a bit smaller, I should slope it. :) Nice flying, those are tricky to fly smooth, good job!

Right on, you should do it. Size wise though, this is likely smaller than yours. First there were the old pocket rocket series of FunFighters which included a 620mm wingspan Rare Bear. HK also used to offer a 400mm wingspan micro Rare Bear. If you search my channel here for "rare bear" there are videos of both from 2012 with brushless motor setups. This XK Rare Bear is the smallest one I know of at 380mm wingspan.

Looks like it would be challenging to fly although you seem to have it pretty dialed.

So true, in general i find these types of little planes a bit squirrelly at times so glad this one behaves for the most part. Definitely a challenge to keep it soaring if lift is too weak and if wind is too strong or turbulent it will get blown around. Fun trying to tame it though.
