@mankie99, this is actually s16mm, I know because I was in the film as a skater and followed and learned about editing from Jim Freeman through the entire production from filming, selecting dailies and editing.I have an original 16mm positive sound print that is not in good condition but one day I wanted to scan it just like you mentioned. Maybe we can collaborate with the expenses! I have the original flyers for the publicity as well.

Thanks for posting ! Wow, so you are one of the skating guys in the movie - That's great, I was contacted by a freestyle skiier in one of my other vintage clips. Yes you are right the original was shot in 16mm, I managed to get hold of a print several years ago which I reasently scanned frame-by-frame (check out my channel, it is in there). This clip is however an old super8 mm film that I also have in my possesion that I filmed with a DV camera because of lack of money at the time...

My name was the "Rubber Band Man" in so cal in the mid to late 70's. That down hill film was in the "newly" created town of Lake Forrest , Ca. The homes going in were in the high 30's. $39,000 for a so cal home in O.C. LOL. We drained our pool so my house was the hangout and Carlsbad had the ONLY skateboard at the time. My mother brought me home a prototype board that was one of the first manufactured ( by hand) kick-tail laminated boards by Logan Earth Ski. The biggest jump for use was when went from Metalflex wheels to the Road Riders with Benett Trucks. We made downhill boards out of wooden Maheraja water skis, Benetts with spacers and ultra wide Road Riders. The good ole days, sorry for the long post. RBM

Yep I was in it. My name is Ed Nadalin and I appeared throughout the short film. There is a little segment on me and I'm also the one dressed up in a tuxedo and I rigged up the motorized fan on my back too. Anyway I'm interested in knowing more about the transfer you made. The resolution doesn't come through very well probably because of the compression used in KZbin but did you do a telecine transfer in HD?
@mankie9911 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, I have seen this movie several times and your name is mentioned in the longer 16mm version here Rare Camera Footage - The Magic Rolling Board - MacGillivray Freeman Films (1976) (copy the address and put www. in front of it), that version is the scanned frame by frame one and the quality is kinda good - Ok so you are also the guy with the propeller on the back - That is really cool, nice to hear from you, this film got me into skateboarding when I was about 13 years old and I have loved it since then !

Sorry I forgot to answer your question about the scan - I really do not now much about it because I sent it to a company here i Sweden some time ago and they lifted the colors and washed it a bit and scanned is frame by frame (so they told me anyway)...
@eDboy195511 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the details of the transfer but if that company in Sweden had scanned it frame by frame I'm sure they did the 16mm in at least a European standard definition of 720x576 so why didn't you post a higher resolution than 240p to give everyone a thrill !!!
@mankie9911 жыл бұрын
Sorry man, I am no expert on this. This is a very small and exclusive area in Sweden, most of the companies use imported gear and I really don't know anything about it besides this. I just took what I recieved and was happy with it...
