My Dad and I went to Georgetown to catch a CN crew change with a rare C44-9WL and a female engineer on the relieving crew, while they were waiting for clearance a CN freight passed by with an SD60. We also caught the GEXR on it's way to Mac Yard and we stopped by Scotch Block to catch a westbound manifest. In the video I accidentally said that the second unit was a C44-8WL, but it is actually a C44-9WL.

When a Cn gets a crew change so close to Mac yard it is a three man crew not a two man crew. Therefore the green vest wouldn’t be a trainee. By ordering a three man crew they can force the crew to do more work after they yard the train.
@davidbarnett9312

I revisited this after two years. Regarding the comments on the trainee, I think we were all pretty green those first days and weeks. I spent two weeks on a road crew as part of my OJT @ $1.60 an hour in the late 60's on the defunct SP. I then had valuable additional training at Inglewood Yard in Houston. There was some kind of resolution between the union and SP, so a road crew from the Houston & Texas Central, my road and owned by SP, had to work for three months in the hump yard. Very valuable experience for me and the other newbie brakeman. The conductor and engineer were old heads who took the time to impart their knowledge.

I just wanted to reach out and thank you very much for not making women freight engineers out to look different. I appreciate not always being pointed out as a minority. Over the years I imagine this career will get more popular to women as my generation grew up on Thomas the tank engine and that is definitely what for me hooked on trains.. Keep up the excellent work and keep showing us more can video

Of course! Although I have stated it is rare to see a female engineer/conductor, there is absolutely no doubt that they can perform just as well railroading as their male counterparts. Thanks for watching I'm glad you enjoyed! Notch 8 and sand, Adam

Wow have things ever changed since the 1980's. There were no female engineers, no yellow and orange vests. Everyone wore jeans and a jean jacket, chain smoking in the cab was mandatory, you got on and off while the train was moving. The pros could do it at 15 mph and made it look easy.

Add more women and maybe off / break times will be better, more staff available, less demand on each one to get it all done. It'll help by putting girls near, in or operating them in places such as rail museums or other controlled areas public can access the experience. And more videos of women and girls learning and doing these tasks will give more reason for women and girls to go for the experience and careers. Its great to see men and women working for their own good and for the economy and country.

I wouldn't call it "rare". While it is true that there aren't as many female engineer's and conductors out there as this profession was male only for god knows how long, it's just like law enforcement, women are just as capable as getting the job done as their male coworkers.
@TheBamaPrinceable

Blake Trafford - Mile Post Productions Saying that female train engineers and conductors are "rare" (which they very much are) is not the same as saying that they aren't capable of doing the job.
@TheAdamRides
@TheAdamRides 6 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree, however I called it "rare" not because of the female engineer but rather due to the crew change taking place at this location, the second unit in the consist, the train passing during a crew change, and the locomotives on the GEXR.

The old man use to wear yellow vest just to stir the pot on the Buffalos out of MacYard Toronto south lol clearly it’s a stack train so this is why I assume he is fresh also his actions not to bright for someone who could be 2 years in lol
