Wow, what timing with the video. I just picked up a 1864 $20 note up here in Rochester New York. Looks to be only in good condition, I would say didn’t have to pay too much so I figured what the heck. 😀

Great group up rebel notes. Thanks for sharing paper and great observation with the different series coming out on top of each other. Trust in the currency had to be tough and confusing. Kind of like having 6 different types of US currency circulating together in the first two decades of the 20th century!

A dollar in 1861 has the value of 36 dollars in 2023 money. Other values: ten = $360, fifty = $1800, hundred = $3600. I am not sure what confederate money would have been worth compared to Union money. But by 1864 inflation was killing the value of conferate money.
