This was around the time I traded the Fostex 8 track cassette recorder that I was using to record demos for a Tascam digital 8 track recorder that used SD cards. I don't remember how small they were but they were tiny, not even a GB large. It had a built-in, dual-channel microphone preamp too which was awesome, it honestly had a great sound when using a cheap Shure 57 condenser mic. The technology at the time was developing at what seemed like an exponential rate. Like 5 years later I got my first digital interface for recoding using a PC, and that was a revolution to say the very least. Good times.

Unless you’re seeing the screen you can’t really tell what he’s doing if you don’t know that machine however as someone who’s been using it more than 20 years I can tell you he WASNT editing. There’s a slider for that. You can pick where your samples / loops start and end and you have to be listening and pressing keys for that. He was probably creating a new sequence or copying an existing one really nothing advanced it’s pretty much muscle memory if you use that machine frequently but nothing mystical he definitely wasn’t editing. Possibly loading samples but again nothing too advanced y’all are just caught up in the “mystery and mystique” the video is edited anyway and the beat isn’t very good y’all are just obsessed 😂

His zest for music was so strong back then and it stayed strong until he literally took over the world. That one summer right after MBDTF and before Watch the Throne dropped was his most sky high moment, in my opinion. Wasn't too much in the news, was just on top making hits. His roots could and should inspire anyone though. How hard he tried to make it. Now some choices he made along the way may have slightly tarnished his name but he's mainly focused on raising his kids now I imagine.
